What this shows me is that Tommy Reese don’t care for Brian Kelly.

Not really, Bama could do better. And they're only interviewing him right, not hired?

He was coming to LSU with Kelly until ND hired Freeman and they gave Rees a raise to stay there

They're not getting him. The source is full of shite and you're buying it. Anyone who thinks Bama is going to hire him as OC after O'Brian is seriously naive. Maybe in an analyst type role he's definitely not going to be an OC for Bama. That's an immediate downgrade unquestionably.

Amazing how some of you are so gullible.

I'm with you on this, wasn't excited about Denbrock either but I'll take him over Rees.

I have a good friend who's a ND fan and he loathed him. Not as a person but as an OC.

Denbrock is a perfectly fine OC as long as he has the QB room to operate his system. He's not going to get Kiffin creative if his QB room is limiting his scheme. I think middle of the road is a fair description for him. He's not bad and he's not great. His scheme for half of the season last year was questionable. Do you remember when he was marching out heavy TE sets driving down the field and took our talented WRs off it? He took forever to adjust in some games. Partly why we lost to FSU was his late adjustments. I'm pretty sure BK told him to stop that shite on TEs after he started seeing it on film.

There's actually tons of criticisms I can throw out on Denbrock especially the first half of the season.

I'm not saying Denbrock was without fault but calling him middle of the road is a bit below what he's accomplished IMO. I think he's a solid tier higher than average base don what he was able to do year 1 here and the last couple years at Cinci having some good offenses. He definitely isnt some young innovative mind but he seems to know how to play to strengths to the most part.

Remember, we had zero running game the last 2 years prior to this past season, he figured out a way to have one with a heavy committee approach and a walk on leading the way. The RBs all averaged between 4.9 and 6 yards per carry.

He also improved the pass game, despite our best receiver arguably taking the year off mostly in Boutte...and with a QB half the fanbase hates because of his gun shy mentality

All this while having an OL with 2 true freshmen starting at OT on it...which is pretty much unheard of in CFB much less the SEC. Oh and a true freshman TE taking over as well.

All in all I'd call Denbrock better than just "average"

anyone calling denbrock "average" is:

1) football ignorant and never watched him coach and never done any film studies

2) X and O and situation ignorant

3) ignorant about catering to what players can do and not do and keeping a defense honest regardless what we can or cannot execute.

4) all of the sbove

You're being downvoted, but you're right. Everyone is desperate to prove that Saban is washed up, but they just finished #5 in the country and hauled in one of the best recruiting classes of all time. He didn't just forget how to coach all of the sudden.

Did you watch a ND game last year? They were completely inept for half the year.

I think BK just wanted someone he was familiar with that could teach his offense while he tended to the dumpster fire that was the roster.

Bama will always be good because of the talent but the reason they have been beatable or at least not as dominant as before the last couple of years has been coaching. Specifically at the OC and DC spots. Is Rees over O’Brian really that much of an upgrade?
