I just got back from a local chain grocery store. White large Eggs were 5.29, extra large 5.99, and Jumbo 6.59 for the store brand.

But the brown cage free eggs were only 4.49 a dozen for the store brand.

Usually, brown or cage free eggs are more expensive.

So folks look around before just grabbing the usual carton of eggs.

I am about order a few chickens to cut out the middle man to lay my own eggs.

Wasn’t there a good many large chicken farms burned recently? This could be a possibility why eggs have hiked through the roof. I don’t know. I’m asking the question.

I’m getting 10-12 eggs a day lately. Chickens are awesome.

I bought sixty eggs for 20$ at the Walmarks the other day. That was the cheapest per egg. Now I got to eat all these eggs.

There is no better time to buy eggs from local farmers. No bird flu flock eradications for them.

A 6 pack of pints of egg whites at Costco has gone from $11 to $12 over the course of this. They’re either fake or this is bs lol

Grew up with 7 chickens as pets and egg providers. Loved them.

Crazy thing is pre COVID I slaughtered my flock because it was more expensive to feed them than buy eggs. Used to get a dozen here locally in south ms for $0.79
Those fat hens sure made a good stew though

What the media was saying that 3-5 percent of the laying hens were wiped out due to avian flu. And that's the reason for eggs to increase by this much. If half the hens were wiped out, who knows the cost to consumers.

You can raise your own but feed prices are also going through the roof. It would be nice to be able to free range if you live in the country and your neighbors aren't problematic.

Last week I bought a 18 count carton of organic eggs for $6.99. Was pleasantly surprised.

you mfrs don't live in the country.
All my neighbors have chickens and I'm trying hard not to get my own.
The hawks are crushing my neighbors hens.
If not, then it's the raccoons, rats, coyotes, or foxes.
Predators are everywhere here.

No you aren't and the egg outrage is ridiculous. I know people see it on social and everyone want to talk about whats cool but at $6/dozen you're talking about 50-60 cents a piece

The shite people waste their money on in this country sitting in line to buy am $8 starbucks posting from their $1000 cell phone wearing $100 yoga pants in their $50k truck or SUV that the main ingredient in their home-cooked breakfast costs $1.00-$1.50 per serving is the most US group bitch/think thing ever

We have 7 and they were laying 35-40 per week.

When the time changed back in November, it threw them for a loop, and some chilly weather, along with a molting phase had then laying 0 for 6-8 weeks.

I find it funny people actually care whether or not the egg was laid in a cage
