Baddest thing I evr saw in my life was watching an F-14 takeoff at night on an aircraft carrier. So I'm going F-14.

The B-36 Peacemaker
At 40,000+ft, it was more maneuverable than the fighters of the era.

It shrank the B-29

Best ride I've ever had was a Pitts S2B, pulled +5.1 g's and -4.8 g's. Almost better than sex, not quite but almost.

The Pitt s2b is a favorite of mine as well. It the one that i would love to own and fly.

Always had an affinity for the SR-71 Blackbird, I was really into planes as a kid and had a calendar that used the SR-71 for my birthday month.

As a kid I built a model of the Blackbird, and also the X-15 which I really loved because it was a rocket pretending to be a plane.

Surprised no one has mentioned the F4U Corsair. I've always had a soft spot for the gull wing design. I worked at the facility where they were constructed for a bit.

Tight between the F-16 and F-15. F-14 also captured my imagination back in the 80s. But, the F-16 was my favorite.

One dropped a Nuke in the waters between BC and Alaska in 1950, crew bailed and the plane flew on for another 50 miles crashing near Smithers BC. Never found the Mk IV bomb off the Canadian coast near the Queen Charlottes (Haida Gwaii now)

That 3rd pic really accentuates the gull wing design.

That is a nice looking plane. Don't think I've ever seen it before but those wings are unique and give it a nice look.

Just on looks the Russian SU-27 is a looker. Probably dog shite in the air compared to the raptor but she’s sexy.

If you are still interested in the X-15, I recommend this book, At the Edge of Space, written by Milton Thompson. He was one of the test pilots on the X-15 program. It details the development and the flight profiles of each mission along with the personal stories of the pilots that flew the rocket-plane.
