FYI. Said the compensation for saints would be mid to late 1st round pick, or the equivalent. And he's talked to Loomis about it.

If Loomis is allowing Payton to determine his own value then Loomis should recuse himself from this process and possibly fired as well.

He's not "allowing" it, it's just good insight into what the Saints expect.

Payton should have no comment and nothing to do with the compensation component of the trade.

So how does Payton and Loomis discussing the value turn into Payton determining what it is? I doubt Payton would agree to coach a team that traded away all draft capital for the next two years.

The Pels have been better off without Loomis, makes me wonder if the Saints wouldn't as well. Loomis just lucked into Payton because the Packers passed him up.

A mid to late 1st round pick plus a starting player maybe but not a single 1st. FOH with that bullshite. Absolutely no way the architect of one of the best offenses in NFL history that will quite simply put butts in seats for a franchise as soon as he's hired is worth a single 1st. No way.

I would definitely inquire of Loomis about CSP and his statement.

Pleasantly surprised we’re actually getting a first rounder.

I mean probably something to the extent of yeah we will give you permission to interview with —- team. We’d expect their first round pick this year or next for you to go there.

If Payton gets his choice of teams and they low-ball the offer, I'd hold his rights for the length of his contract, and he can pray every night that his dream job is open again when his contract is up. frick his dream job the way he fricked the Saints.

Loomis needs to see that show today, Payton basically told the world Loomis is his bitch.

Fyi, I didn't watch it, going by what the op said Payton said

He really shouldn’t be commenting on this. My guess is he is trying to dictate the terms of the trade. Not cool.

Loomis giving him up for peanuts is no surprise. That's why he should never have been in charge. Dude doing buddy deals is why we are in such a shitter right now.

The reality is that no coach is stupid enough to mortgage the next 1-2 years of draft picks, he knows cost controlled players gives you a clear 3-4 year window.

Saying aloud is stupid and annoying, but its something known behind closed doors.

Its our choice to trade him, but he's also not going to be okay with going to a team with 0 draft picks for 2 years.

Spot on and laughing at all the posts here saying a bidding war was underway that will drive up the costs to a Gruden like haul. Frankly if they get a 1st that’s better than I thought.

All I want is for us to move on and for him to fail at his next coaching gig.
