This thread isn't super useful as a raw number. $350k annual income and a $50k car every 3-5 years isn't that much. $35.0k annual income and a $50k car every 3-5 years is absurd.

9 years ago I bought a loaded 3 year old MB-E350 with 30k miles and some AMG upgrades, CPO with extra 2 year warranty added on, so four years total warranty. It was ~$40k out the door with TTL and finance charges included, $0 down.

Car just hit 110,000 miles and runs like a charm. I hope to drive it another 4-5 years. My only complaint is the tire expense. Low profile tires with the AMG wheels don’t get much more than 17-20k miles.

I'm also not going to buy a 10 year old piece of crap with 150,000 miles on it.

A 2013 truck with $150k miles is not good enough for your 16 year old son?

Yeah because it don’t want to start spending money on repairs immediately.
Plus I want something he can drive when he starts college.

My problem is I have a 16 year old son that I need to buy something for soon. He wants a truck, but I'm not going to pay the crazy prices we've seen for a long time. I'm also not going to buy a 10 year old piece of crap with 150,000 miles on it.

Had this problem a several years ago with my son. Found a dented up small 4-door (either Isuzu or Mitsubishi) for about $7k (9 years old with 144k)and said that's about the only truck your getting (Taco's with 150k+ were 20k+). He said he would take it. Wife said no due to age, condition and mileage. Convinced him to get a 2 year old Ford Fusion with about 33k for the same price as a 10 year old Taco with 150k. He has beaten that car to hell and back but is still driving 6 years later.

Most I've spent...just got the Wife a 2023 Q7 TSFI 55 for 72k+ ttl.

Never paid over $21k or so all in. Hate buying cars

Don't think I'll get away with that next time.

The most I ever spent on a vehicle wasn’t even me. My identity was stolen, and the guy bought a charger and a 50K Jeep. I didn’t even know they had $50K Jeeps.
I was quite surprised to learn I bought these.
Luckily, I wasn’t on the hook for them.
But it was nice to learn my credit was that good.

Around $30k…never bought a new vehicle in my life. Cars just don’t fascinate me and most lose value over time.

$45K. It's a boat. As far as land conveyances, $29.5K on a top-of-the-line Nissan Quest back when the kids were small. Flip-down screens with DVD players and Bluetooth headphones were a pretty big deal in 2006.

Not too much as I always buy Japanese and I mean I try to get the models 100% made in Japanese factories. Then, I have them for substantial periods of time with few (if any) maintenance costs and resell them for 50%+ of the purchase price and then buy more.
This.

About $50k a couple of times for new Lexus vehicles.

I’ve spent more than that on a boat…
