Jayden Daniels Top 10 graded QB by PFF in 2022
quote:
You had the 2022 LSU team competing for a National Title?

You realize Jayden is going to be the qb next year too right?

quote:
LSU started the year with 71 initial qualifiers, if you want to count Josh Williams in that since he got a scholarship early on in his tenure, then I can concede 72. That was 13 less than Bama, UGA, A&M who all started the year at 85.

Cool...
Still gonna need better qb passing stats than Jordan Jefferson had in 2009 if we wanna win a conf or national title.

I swear some of you act like Jayden played perfect this past season and we were a great passing team all year.

Yes, and I am 100% in support of him as QB1. He came to LSU in March as Graduate Transfer, and picked up a new offense with a new bunch of players.

Stop with the Jefferson comparisons, Daniels is a better QB. Regarding 2009, that was actually Jefferson's best year but the Clock Fubar at Oxford totally strained the relationship between Les and Crowton and 2010 was the cluster year for Jefferson but that is old news.

Daniels was not perfect, neither was any other unit. Kelly pieced together a roster in 8 months and put together a team that went 10-4. In year 2, LSU is, with JD, among the top 6 or 7 teams in terms of odds to get to the CFP. Of course, 2 of the other top 6 reside in the SEC, UGA and Bama. But Kelly and JD have LSU back in the conservation for being a playoff contender after and 11-12 record over 2020/2021.

He was hurt in the Texas A&M game I think in the first half, knee. The injury got worse in the 1st half of the UGA game and Nuss came in.

Holy shite... yeah that's not how this works. If jayden daniels was a better passers we don't lose 4 games... right...?

This is a fact that many here do not wish to acknowledge They do not lose to FSU for sure. They have a good chance LSU beats TAMU as well. His fumble certainly did not help. The QB is the one position that can completely lose a game on its own. This has been LSU's problem for many years. We need a very good to great QB, but I would settle for a good one at this point and it is not JD5.

LSU won the game, dimwit. Is that not what matters. Let's agree to disagree. I am looking forward to seeing if I am completely wrong about JD5 putting LSU over the top.

Jesus

Jayden was 25/34 (73.5%) in the Florida State game for 209 yards, 2 TD, 0 INT. You also ignore that he rushed for 114 yards on only 16 carries.

We did not lose that game because of Daniels.

And scoring points is ultimately what matters to an offense.

And you don’t think that completing 3 passes beyond 3 yards in the first half or most of those passing yards coming on the last 2 drives matters?

Better than well, he was on fire in that first half , especially the 1st quarter. He was accurate and quickly going through progressions. If jd plays like he did against uga we will be fine. He wasn’t able to run so I’m starting to think he’s more capable of being a great pocket passer than we think and that he uses his ability to run too much

We scored 7 points, how is that better than well?

And again... no run 1st qb is winning a title of note. It hasn't happened since tebow.

Is Jalen hurts a “run first qb”? Because he ran for 1200 yards and made the playoffs in 2019 and hes currently lighting up the NFL. And Stetson might not be what you call “run first” but he is a dual threat same as Jayden

Whose fault is it that we had a chip shot field goal blocked that they turned into 7? If not for the blocked field goal and unlucky helmet bounce int it could’ve been 13-21 at half

He ran for 43 yards and 3.1ypc in the playoffs, 38 yards and 1.7ypc in the conf champ game. That’s not what wins vs championship competition.

When you contextualize things one way and don’t apply the same standards universally it becomes bias.

To claim Jayden Daniels is not a good quarterback is just flat out idiotic. Every metric of measuring QB performance is in contrast with that opinion

That’s not true. He had the second lowest yards per pass for an LSU QB in the last 20 years, the 24th ranked ypc in the SEC, he took 43 sacks behind a line that was 8th nationally in time allowed and had a lower passer rating than Danny Etling and Jarrett Lee. Those are far from “outstanding metrics”.
