He is a good qb. But his skill set doesn't maximize lsu superpower. It's why the guy one slot in front of him was in the playoffs and he was not.

Everyone knows he was sick for that game and he wasn’t the only one, but some people are so upset about his overall success and that of the team they will use anything in their attempt to beat him bout the head and shoulders.

A good many of those types are simply trolls

This is actually far from true. Unless sports talking heads are filled with LSU fans.
Ok, I'll bite:

which talking heads are saying Daniels isn't good?

“Everyone knows he was sick for that game and he wasn’t the only one,”

And you don’t find it funny that other players had it too but the only player who gets that excuse applied to him is Daniels?

Well that was not the only game he played poorly.

It strains credulity. What are the criteria?

Daniels was not perfect, neither was any other unit. Kelly pieced together a roster in 8 months and put together a team that went 10-4. In year 2, LSU is, with JD, among the top 6 or 7 teams in terms of odds to get to the CFP. Of course, 2 of the other top 6 reside in the SEC, UGA and Bama. But Kelly and JD have LSU back in the conservation for being a playoff contender after and 11-12 record over 2020/2021.

This is rightly underscored, but if LSU spits the bit next year with a "full roster" what then? Cannot wait to see how it shakes out.

All true. They fall to acknowledge that Daniels's running yardage would have been dwarfed by passing yards with a competent QB. So much left undone as the saying goes.

Why do people just not acknowledge this simple fact?

Holy shite... yeah that's not how this works. If jayden daniels was a better passers we don't lose 4 games... right...?

This is a fact that many here do not wish to acknowledge They do not lose to FSU for sure. They have a good chance LSU beats TAMU as well. His fumble certainly did not help.
I don't think better QB play beats A&M, as they completely controlled the ball. We simply could not stop them. Better play could have kept us closer, but Achane got over 200 yds rushing.
And yeah, the fumble hurt. That's the exact point a lot of people make about Nussmeier's penchant for interceptions. Turnovers make it harder to win games.

Despite it all, if Lacy catches an open 3rd down pass, and Jenkins holds a TD, we might have seen a different game.

As for Fla State... are you nuts? Fla State had 14 play drives- twice. Another drive went 12 plays. Also drives of 9 and 8 plays. When they got the ball, they drove methodically down the field on us, continuously. We only made them punt twice... they got the ball back on both of those.
We had 2 kicks blocked. Our running backs ran for 39 yds (not counting Daniels). Our "superstar" WR Boutte, dropped on hard TD that he did get both hands on. He also didn't even try to catch another TD, wasn't looking for the ball- which almost hit him in the chest.
Despite all that, we had a chance to tie or win, and if we go for 2 at the end I think we steal that game.

Obviously you’ve seized on a narrative so there’s no point in trying to explain to that correlation doesn’t equal causation but you wouldn’t understand that any way

But Muh cOmplEmeNtaRy foOtBalL...The offense put no pressure on the opposing team...at all. We'll all discuss this come December '23. OK? I will gladly admit that I was wrong should that be the case.

He had the second lowest yards per pass for an LSU QB in the last 20 years,

Where did you get that stat?
Jayden ended the season at 7.5 yards per attempt this year.

2021- Max Johnson- 7.5 Yards per attempt
2020- Max Johnson- 7.1
2020- TJ Finley- 6.7
2014- Anthony Jennings- 7.1
2012- Zach Mettenberger- 7.4
2010- Jordan Jefferson- 6.8
2009- Jordan Jefferson- 7.3
2008- Jarrett Lee- 7.0
2007- Matt Flynn- 6.7

the 24th ranked ypc in the SEC

20th averaging 4.8 yards per carry. This was second among SEC QBs (Anthony Richardson was 1st)

Daniels was 6th this year in pass efficiency rating in the SEC.

The side of this discussion that looks at him objectively, acknowledges his positives and negatives are labeled “haters by the side who proclaims he’s perfect and any bad performance or deficiency is blamed on everyone else including a sickness that specifically targeted him alone. See the difference?

People like Mickey love to use stats to spin a story.

Lies.
Damn lies.
Statistics.

Actually, seeing how the stats were generated is important also. Again, JD5 will get another bite of the apple next year. I can't wait....

You’re not only including non starters, you’re using career stats in comparison to a single season. You’re also excluding runners even though 186 rushing attempts was tops on the team and 5th in the conference. You’re using a total false equivalency at every level.

I must confess that part of my apprehension about JD5 stems from the awful QB play LSU has had for YEARS. Maybe that is not fair, but CLM really went out of his way to see that the QB would not factor into victory (or so it seemed to me). JD is not awful, but in my view lacks an understanding of the fundamentals. He is a gamer. I am sure that 'quit' is not in his lexicon, but thus far he has not played well as a QB.

Every stat I just used was for a single seasons bud. I went straight off the lists and didn't exclude anyone.

Sports-Reference qualifies these stats with this: (minimum 14 Att/G, 75% of school games played) so you're getting accurate info on who was the 'starter' for those seasons.

He’s not awful, far from it, which is why I talked out the 3 game stretch where he and the offense were at their best by a lot. There’s a formula for winning with a QB like him and when we got away from that he wasn’t good and the offense wasn’t good. The problem with the discussion is you’re talking to people who claim he’s perfect and anytime he played bad it was someone else’s fault.
