Which one would be the better weekend getaway? Going to the Bay is to far for a weekend and that is where I will go over the summer anyway.

Galveston has to be more charming than Corpus Christi.

Galveston? Hell you boys are in Mexico, worse yet, the part you're standing on belongs to Pedro Floyres, he finds you here he'll hang you sure

Galveston has more charm, if you can call it that.

How about neither. Go to Port Aransas.

Honestly Galveston is not bad if you go like right now and just pick a decent weekend. Not crowded at all. My wife and I went back in October when our Cabo trip fell through and stayed at the Hotel Galvez and it was a cool hotel and trip.

As someone with extensive knowledge on both, I will say it depends on what you are looking to do.

Of those two, Galveston. Not sure why anyone would visit Corpus. If going South I'd suggest Port Aransas or Rockport over Corpus.

Edit: Just get out of Austin go relax on beach enjoy life for weekend.

South Padre for the best beach by a mile, it would be a long drive or short flight.

I live in CC now and wouldn't exactly call the place a vacation getaway

It's been a long time since I've been to Galveston and I don't recall that being paradise either

If you go to the CC area I'd just go to Port Aransas as someone else mentioned

If you want to do anything except sit on the beach all day, then Galveston is probably the play. Like others have said CC is pretty sparse for entertainment.

Depending on the day, the chances of having nicer water is slightly higher in CC, but the half a dozen times I’ve been over the last several years, only maybe once did I really see a difference. Either way, if you just accept the conditions for what they are and don’t have lofty expectations, you can enjoy either pretty equally.

The Galvez in Galveston is really nice. Stayed there a few months ago and enjoyed our stay.

Go to Port Aransas. You can get a rental in Cinnamon Shores and it's actually pretty nice. The sand and water aren't great but the set up is nice.

CC has an aquarium and the USS Lexington. The movie Pearl Harbor was filmed using the ship.

Personally, Galveston is like Baton Rouge by the sea - I prefer corpus but my dad was from that area so it may just be nostalgia
