It boggles my mind that regular working folk are paying $1500/month car notes for 72 months.
You’ll own nothing and love it.

We are going to have to buy a vehicle this year because my youngest will be driving this summer. She's getting my wife's car. Luckily we don't really need a SUV anymore. She'll probably just get a newer Camry.

I bought a 2002 Silverado in December 2001 with the 0%. Never really thought at the time that it would become the norm.

If people would keep their vehicles and not trade them every 3 years that would certainly help with the prices.

2019 $27,983 Kenner
2019 $27,777 Natchez
I looked for 30 seconds

Either they come down or I'll be driving old beaters the rest of my life.
I make 6-figures and drive a 21 year old Lexus that's worth MAYBE $5K. I guess that's why I have money and clowns making $60K and driving a new F250 Powerstroke King Ranch don't.

$73,000 for a Ford with it's depreciated value crashing into the earth's core the second you take delivery.

Maybe at current prices which I wouldn't pay. My 6 yr old Ford is worth like 80% of what I paid for it today and was worth more than I paid for it a year ago.

The problem is with banks here. I don’t blame people who finance just because they can make the payment, you’re incentivized to here (even if it is dumb). In most other countries that is not allowed, banks will not give you financing even for a home. This all starts with and ends with banking reform.
I put 0 down on my car which was about 50
I was stunned they allowed it honestly.

I was @ Supreme Ford in Slidell a week ago for an oil change on my F-150. Before I left , I jumped out and looked at a New F-150 XLT 4x4 cloth seats was $64,000
Thats double what I paid for mine

I'm not sure if it's been mentioned but you've also got to factor in inflation on the price of your old vehicle. Example mine below. 37k in 2016 is 46k in 2022.
Now, a comparable new model/load out is averaging about 57k on Autolist.
That's an 11k difference. I could see maybe a couple grand over inflation value but that's ridiculous.

My father made a good living but he always drove older vehicles and we lived in a house well below what we could afford. I never understood it when I was younger but I do now. He retired in his mid 50s, never really gave a shite about material possessions, was always able to help one of his kids when we needed it.
It's a good way to live and something that's much more appealing to me now.

That is a shitload of money for an imported pickup truck. How do the Mexicans, where these trucks are made, afford them.?
I will stick with my American made Tundra, thanks.
