One of the early stars of BKs first class, Mason Taylor finished the year with 414 yards and 3 touchdowns - with one catch that will make him a Tiger legend forever.

I couldn’t find official stats, but my research shows me that 414 yards would put him at 3rd all time for a TE in a single season at LSU. Thad Moss is first and David Lefleur is at 2 with 439 yards in 1996.

I think he felt like a true impact player as a freshman - where would you rank his season all time for an LSU TE?

ETA: Malcolm Scott had 433 yards in 1981. Taylor is actually 4th all time

I'd say he's up there with LaFleur as the best tight end we've ever had, already.

And next year I wouldn't be surprised if he was the best tight end in the country. He's got everything you could ask for at that position.

Bower is back next season but MT might start getting National attention if he starts out strong.

So lucky he chose us over Bama. It worked out for him bigtime that Kelly came in. Can't wait to see him and Markaway together the next 2 years

The first half of the season, many on here were literally complaining about him playing at all. Questioning Kelly. Questioning Daniels. etc.

What it really comes down to is people care too much about drops. They happen. Getting open and blocking consistently is more important than having a sky high catching percentage.

And a lot of them were the same ones acting as if Ja'Mar wasn't gonna make it because he dropped a few balls in the pre-season.

This place never fails to provide.

Mason Taylor has just the right amount of talent nipping at his heels next year (really talented recruits).

What’s the TE of the year award called again?

Dickson is super overrated. He had a great game in the 2007 NC, and I’m thankful for it, but he was an average player. Taylor has already blown last Royal.

Stats wise, Moss is comfortably in 1st. It helps when you play with a QB who has over 6,000 yds of offense though

Taylor had the best freshman TE season that I can ever remember at LSU. He caught a pass in 13 of 14 games (great for any TE, but especially a true freshman). He played great down the stretch and that TD catch in double coverage against Bama to tie the game in regulation was probably his best catch of the year (and it was in the game with the most pressure).

His season was up there with the best TE seasons at LSU. Moss had the best TE season at LSU that I remember, but considering the talent on that offense, it was easier for him to get open and put up numbers with a QB like Joe Burrow. He had a great season regardless though and that sideline catch against Bama was phenomenal.

How is Dickson overrated? He was a productive player in an offense that didn’t feature the TE as much as LSU does now. Taylor is better, but no need to diss Dickson.

Lots of downvotes on this one, but Moss had an unbelievable year on an unbelievable team. Geaux Tigers!

I mean, maybe. The WR/TE position breaking any records simply comes down to scheme or quarterback play really. So if we get that then sure, but only time will tell.

I bet you’d be surprised to know Foster Moreau has already passed LaFleur in his NFL career for receptions, yards, and TDs even playing as 2nd TE with Waller.

Obviously TE is a position LSU has underperformed and underused through the years but BK loves 12 personnel. This years class with 3 TEs will be the norm moving forward.

"The one to watch is Pimpton"

He looks great against guys half his size playing outside receive. He can block/push a smaller guy 15 yards out of bounds. Until he gets on campus and goes up against guys his size, I will reserve crowning him.

He did indeed with an even bigger and better catch against Bama. Stats aren't the end all, be all. When and where those stats were accomplished matter more to me.
