GP2 also shite talked portland on his way out too lol

There’s been alot of bad talk around all the guys involved in this deal, it’ll be SUPER awkward for them all to go back to original teams.

GS HAS to cancel this though right? I mean they’re giving up a bunch of 2nd rounders in this deal.

Shows you just how nasty fandom can get.

A ton of the Portland fanbase was 100% sure Payton was faking that injury because it took longer than expected for him to come back and he didn't immediately play after he was cleared.

[The Athletic] Payton, according to sources, had been playing through pain in Portland. Sources added that the Blazers training staff had been pushing him to gut through it, giving him Toradol shots. This had not been relayed to the Warriors during the negotiation process.

This looks very bad on Portland, and i can see why GP was talking bad about them.

So there are way worst medical staffs out there compared to the overly cautious Pelicans staff. Wouldn't have known it based on the responses and reactions around here.

the hawks would get pushed into the tax if the deals doesn’t go thru

Yup, this was one of two moves they made to get under the tax, and they may be screwed. At least they would get their 2nds back

They're saving so much money, seems in their best interest to try and figure out a way to make it work. Maybe try to get more picks or something along those lines.

They usually solve these issues with 2nds. Portland will need to send them a few. Remember when we traded Ish Smith to Philly for 2 2nds? That was unofficial compensation for not telling us Jrue has a stress fracture in his foot.

I’m not Mister trade or money guy, but I did listen to Draymond Green’s take on the trades.

He mentioned, shedding James Wisemen saved them effectively $130 million dollars

And adding Gary Payton back in the deal added back another $90 Mil or so back in luxury tax.

It’s one thing to be willing to spend $90 Mil on a defensive role player if he’s healthy, but if he’s not, it seems like they would just want to nix that part of the deal and just keep Bey and their 5 draft choices. (I’m not 100% sure of Bey’s impact on the luxury tax, but I think it’s less than GP2’s.

Can’t renegotiate the deal after the trade deadline, right now it’s take the deal as is or cancel the whole thing.

From Mike Scotto, the Grizzlies are the ones that tried to send 4 1sts for Bridges

I say that referring to Dyson and a little bit Trey. Both have shown a lot early so I don't think it's crazy to think in 2-3 years they'll be the kind of wing players all the other teams in the league will be calling to trade for.

Depending on the player, I’d probably trade BI or Herb before Dyson and Trey. Just taking into account his salary and injury issues. I’m not trading BI for Bridges or OG. But more or less if someone like Luka or Booker ever becomes available once the Suns window closes.

Hypothetically in the off-season Brooklyn calls and offers this trade, what’s your response?

Pels: Bridges, Claxton, DFS, Thomas, 23 1st

Nets: Ingram, Jose, Herb, Val

I would push for 2 more 1sts but take one more, but i would do it.

You get 3 upgrades that i think make up for the downgrade from Ingram to Bridges.

It would be a very hesitant yes though.

Giving up the best player and shot creator in a deal...I don't like it. I get why you're interested in it...but I wouldn't do it.

Toronto especially seems to have priced themselves out

I said this a month or 2 ago, but the league to be approaching the limit on these super deals.

There are only so many good enough teams with the assets to make these moves

Phoenix and Brooklyn were just removed from the list

The number of tradeable stars is quickly outpacing the number of potential destinations. That's going to cause downward pressure on the value of those stars, but GMs will resist getting less than 20-23 market value.

We're at the point now where overpaying with picks for premium talent makes the most sense for our team as currently constructed

100%

We can't use all our picks moving forward. We're going to have to start dealing them for players or future picks pretty quickly.
