So it was probably trey + herb + 2 or 3 firsts for Bridges.

Yeah frick that. I’m betting we’re the team that was offering the four 1sts for Bridges and we had our final offers out there and just waiting to see if Brooklyn or Toronto would accept, then decided to go ahead and just pull the trigger on the JRich trade.

Thats a championship lineup. Trade it all for that lineup

lets say we did
herb and trey and pels unprotected 24 and pels unprotected 26. = bridges.

claxton for jv and two unprotected Milwaukee picks. some bench shuffling to get money right.
was that enough for claxton?

its interesting pels Fo valued herb and tm3 so high. they need quite a bit of future development. bridges is now. i saw a game recently where he took over like prime jimmy butler or prime kahwi. both ends. the man.

Per Zach Lowe, 1 team offered 4 1sts just for Bridges, and the Nets said no. Just sounds like all the needle moving dudes we may have wanted just had way too high prices.

Toronto especially seems to have priced themselves out and now will have to play out the season with a toxic locker room.

They say this and we have no idea what "4 firsts" really mean.

All the time you hear that number thrown around talking about firsts, then the actual deal comes through and it's 2 top 10 protected 1sts and 2 pick swaps.
I'm not saying a pick swap isn't attractive, but i hate how they call that "getting a 1st", especially when it's coming from a playoff team. like our pick swaps from Milwaukee. Those are rather worthless, yet they count them as "trading a 1st" when they report on it.

They talk about how NYK got all these 1st round picks this past draft, yet when you look at the protections on them or who they are from, they aren't that valuable at all, and some won't even convey.

TLDR. specify what the 1sts are instead of just saying 4 1sts, and i mean that to the media.

Knicks’ 23 firsts-

Dallas - lottery protected (likely mid-high 20s)

Detroit - protections won’t let it convey this season. If they stay bad, it may not convey for years

Washington - See Detroit.

They have picks to send but there is no telling when they will arrive and they certainly don’t seem to be good ones.

On the one hand, thank god. Grizzlies plus KD would be a nightmare

On the other, what the frick you doing Marks? ALL the picks and swaps??? Ja and JJJ are glass and KD has a couple more seasons tops. Brooklyn would be feasting for a decade.

Not to mention there was no guarantee that KD would have not requested another trade this summer if Memphis wasn't where he wanted to be

That's what I'm wondering

They were prepared to, but seems did not offer. I would imagine there they were prepared to make that offer assuming KD signed off. He did not sign off, so they did not make the offer.

Local guys (Shamit and Mac) saying the team offering 4 picks was Pelicans and Griff was pissed that Nets did not even counter.

I'm kinda glad they didn't counter. Mikal is a great player, but I don't think he's worth 4 1st round picks. I mean he's similar player to OG Anunoby and supposedly he could've been had for less.

I'd rather just keep those picks, see what we have this year, and offload the picks + JV or other salary for a star player

Just listened to the Lowe pod with Bobby Marks

Lowe said 4 1sts then clarified that the 4th pick had some protections on it. Fair to assume the other 3 would have been unprotected.

Pacers and Grizz offered 3 picks for OG.

And none wanted to give up aby valuable players to make it happen. The line has been drawn for these guys and the asking price is just too steep right now.

Yea I think 3 picks either unprotected or lightly protected and maybe a swap or crappy 1st as the 4th "pick"

I also immediately thought it was likely the Pels who made that offer, makes sense because we would have pivoted to asking about Bridges since Toronto wanted a young guy or 2 plus those picks for OG (LOL).

We're at the point now where overpaying with picks for premium talent makes the most sense for our team as currently constructed

looks like maybe four for sure guys in 23 draft.
i dont see griff betting he knows pick 4 or 5 is the man and giving up a bucks and a pels pick to move up from 15 or whatever lakers pick is.

trading up in the NBA draft is hard. I wouldn't bet on this scenario playing out

Just in: A failed physical exam of Gary Payton II has placed the Golden State-Portland-Detroit-Atlanta four-team deal in serious jeopardy, sources tell me and @anthonyVslater. Payton's core muscle injury could sideline him for up to three months following a Warriors exam.
