The freedom caucus better come up with a solution now or they are going to end up with McCarthy cutting a deal with the democrats.

That would be suicide

Surely he realized before the votes that he was not going to get it and could have done something to avert the embarrassment.

He did, hence the marathon of calls on Sunday night.
Nothing he could’ve done—apart from removing his name from consideration.
Business has to continue.

I’m entitled to my personal opinion.

He has a history of sleeping with female Congresswomen who support his bid for Speaker. And MTG has a record of sleeping around.

What you don't understand is that the GOPe doesn't like Scalise otherwise he would have replaced McCarthy by now. Scalise has always been the link between the Freedom Caucus and the GOPe.

Is McCarthy just this egotistical and narcissistic or incompetent.

The current rules in the House make it real easy to grease the skids for Uniparty objectives. The 20 are trying to scale back Pelosi rules and add a few more to make the appropriations process more deliberative. The Unipary are behind Kevin fighting these concessions.

The 20 might not win on all the rules but they will take Kevin as a trophy. The victory will be on a sliding scale of a pyric victory depending on what rules get in place or not depending on ongoing negotiations.

but at least we will get some good I-12 and I-10 between NOLA/Slidell and BR infrastructure money

Those funds will 100% be misappropriated.

Rips the curtain back and shows more folks that there is really a uni-party running things in Congress... Also would force him to caucus with the Dems in order to get anything passed...

He might as well switch parties if he deals with the Dems...

Should’ve been “We’ve all heard at length about Kevin McCarthy,” not, “We’ve all heard about Kevin McCarthy in length.

Amongst the 20 dissenters?
There were none.
Donalds and Spartz missed the initial call but voted in the follow-up roll call.
