So my financial planner has packed up his family and moved across the country.

Am I right to be upset? Knowing that I’ll never meet with him in person again to discuss my finances. All my annuities are with him.

Why do you need to see him in person? Boomer mode.

Maybe save the 1-2% per year and manage your own financial planning?

I’d say no. You don’t get to have a say in where he lives.

I’ve done the zoom meetings before. It’s not the same as meeting in person and looking at diagrams and plans. He said when I chose him last year we would meet yearly in his office to go over how things were progressing. No doing that now.

Honest question. Do you need someone to put your money in VOO for you?

No, you forfeited that right when you were foolish enough to buy an annuity and pay exorbitant fees for “guarantees”.

This type of insurance contract requires zero management from a financial planner as the insurance company actively manages the investment…for a hefty fee.

I sure as hell hope you weren’t paying another fee to the advisor on top of that.

Congrats, you helped pay for his cross.country move with high commission annuity purchase. You're probably better off since he's likely more of a salesman than an advisor. Find a fee only fiduciary advisor and pay them for their time not based on assets under management.

Think the OP asked should he be mad. Not should he have purchased an annuity. Everyone’s situation is different. No, I’d never buy one, but you do you and I’ll do me.

Entitled much? Should he get mad if you moved?

Phones/internet where he is moving?

If not, perhaps his fees were too low. Kidding

Ask this financial planner how much he made off selling you these "annuities". Go be curious.

You need to do financial planning yourself. Move on.

Wait you're melting down over a guy you hired less than a year ago?

As others have pointed out (based on the annuities angle), you were likely given a blessing
