Anybody had a molar pulled?

57 and have never had a tooth pulled. Have a bad one where the crown broke off and the root may be cracked. Hurts like shite.
What’s the way to go here? Bridge? Implant? Leave it open like a Tennessee fan?
ETA: Clarification - I had my wisdom teeth extracted at 21. This tooth is second from the back on the bottom.

Ceramic implant. It’ll be expensive but it’s worth it.

If it is only one tooth, I would do the implant. My dad had a similar situation and had the implant with good results.

Recent went through this. For the extraction, went to an oral surgeon. Very unpleasant experience then about 3 days of pain. That first night was a real bitch.
Once seeking went down, I has a bridge installed.
Good luck.

I had my wisdom teeth pulled one at a time. They were not impacted but in hard to brush areas. As they developed cavities, the doc would pull them.
The sounds and pressure were brutal but it wasn’t really painful. Lots and lots of novicane.

If your jawbone is thick enough, go with the implant, otherwise a bridge or permanent opening. At 57 you have to take a lot of variables into consideration, such as finances, diet, location of tooth, etc, in making the decision. Good luck.

Going through this now.
Had the tooth pulled and bone transplant into socket so in early Feb. I can have an implant. Not bad as it was great periodontist that did the pull/implant. Just gotta give the implant time to heal enough to damage it with the implantation.
Swelling for about 3 days then soreness another week or so. Chew on opposite side mouth and cannot brush the implant area till they say so (it healed well, so am brushing normally again).

I'm going thru this, too. Tooth pulled under anesthesia. Lots of hammering with a chisel to break it into pieces, no lie. Wasn't painful, just terribly unpleasant. You could feel your brain bouncing off your skull. Will have the implant put in mid January.

You've got to weigh the pain and expense of that implant versus missing one tooth in the back of your mouth that nobody sees.

Molar just ahead of back molar pulled >5 yrs ago. Bridge not really an option and dentist said leave it open or implant. I have left it open, dentist monitors it and no issues to date. I'm 60 now and no real plans for implant now

Nope. No one ever.

Had two pulled. Back lower molars on both sides. I had the dentist use the full sedation both times, so I can't give you any recount of what it felt/sounded like. They just pulled them and sewed it shut--no bridges, caps, implants or anything. So far, it has been fine. Haven't missed them as far as eating.

If it's the last tooth, it would not be able to restored with a bridge. Other options would be an implant or leave it alone. If you do leave it alone, you have to worry about the top tooth in the back on the same side not having something to chew against. That top tooth can start to come down over time without a "stop". In that case, you may need a retainer for the upper teeth to prevent it from coming down. Cheaper than an implant, but something you'd have to wear nightly.

Had a bottom one removed. Left it open. No problems

Had a bottom (second from the back) molar pulled last year due to a cracked root. I had to wait about 5 days to have an oral surgeon extract it. I had been in pain for so long, the extraction actually came as a relief. The oral surgeon said the tooth was one of the main chewing teeth, so I got an implant. It was expensive, and had to be performed in several steps, but it was worth it to me. It took me awhile to get used to it, though, seemed foreign at first.

Get the tooth pulled and have an implant placed. Trust me.
