The entire arbitrary point of this thread was to not mention Joe Burrow.

Also Fournette was a bigger star than Deshaun Watson

It’s probably….

1a. Tebow
1b. Bush
3. Leinart
4. Manziel

I’d actually have manziel ahead of Leinart based solely on stardom during their college career, but manziel faded into obscurity after whereas Leinart has parlayed his success into broadcasting.

My order: Tebow, Bush, Leinart, Jamis Winston (football and off the field drama for 3 years), and Manziel.

Tebow mystique was/still is so over the top, was talking to someone a few years ago who swore Tebow started every game from the moment he stepped on campus and refused to believe he was only the starting QB for 1 SEC and CFB championship.

If you pick one person on defense, it’s gotta be Clowney. Dude also sat out his Jr year to prep for the draft.

Some may have done it better, but none have done it longer than Lindsay Scott. Clearly it’s him.

Also the real answer is Saban.

The correct answer

Yeah, they got the most National media attention...so for the South and Midwest this is the correct answer.

But Leinart was huge in Los Angeles, going to Hollywood functions, award shows, nightclubs as the Heisman QB for the #1 team in the nation for 3 years.

I know in the South it's all Tebow but on the West Coast it was Leinart.

Deshaun Watson wasn't just the best Dual-threat QB his senior year in high school. He was the best QB that year period. He was great at Clemson too, but He kind of put them on the map, so I wouldn't say he was the biggest star. Until he got paid, he was boring. Clemson was his first offer, he didn't play any games with other teams. He told them that was where he was going.

Johnny Manzial was probably the biggest bad boy star. He got into NCAA trouble, bedded wild women, and overslept at the Manning camp. His name was in the paper during the season and in the offseason. He was a Rock Star in College.

Reggie Bush is the answer. He was a national star. Everyone watched his hs highlights because they were unreal. He and his USC teammates were at USC when Pete Carroll let Snopp Dog, and whichever celebrities wanted to hang out to come to games and practices. They also won most of their games & played for Nattys. Those guys scored a lot of points, and Reggie continued to make crazy good runs. They were on every highlight show and TMZ.

Message boards weren't enormous yet either. Idk if reddit even existed. TD was still pretty tiny compared to now. So all of the CFB content on the internet was more concentrated into the big sites like ESPN etc, and again...it was all tebow all the time.
I just had a flashback to the old ESPN game chats. Absolute shitshow for those that missed out.
