They will write a summons.
They only put people in jail for aggravated rape and murder. Other violent crimes get released by the judges.

A few quick points if I may;
This is outside the City limits of Baton Rouge. Jurisdiction and responsibility for stopping this act falls dually on the East Baton Rouge Sheriffs Department and Louisiana Highway Patrol.
Task forces have been created and impound laws have been expanded. Arrest, citations, and impounds have occurred throughout the year.
The problem continues because the culture of offenders is massively abundant in this region. Draw your own conclusions.
Finally, even the most dedicated of cops are not going to volunteer to work Saturdays during the peak of the holiday season. Cops enjoy spending what little time off they are granted with family and friends just as much as every one else.
The laws of man and their enforcement cannot deter it all. This region is a perfect storm of negative life choices, lack of accountability, lack of fathers in the home, sprinkled with entitlement and the need for immediate gratification often fueled by social media.
I am just touching the surface to this iceberg, but I have gotten my point across.
Already acknowledged that Siegen is unincorporated and EBRSO's area.
Cops having time off during holidays has nothing to do with it. This is going out throughout the year. If they've done a task force, then that's news to me. Police mostly are engaging in no pursuit and are mostly letting these types of things go. Not sure where you get that cops are 9-5'ers with weekends off and get to take off during the holidays. I associate task forces with overtime and detail pay, and most cops I know jump extra pay. Maybe the departments don't have grant money and don't have the budget, I don't know. What I do know BR metro to include BRPD, EBRSO, LSP are failing.
I agree that cops making arrests alone will not solve it. You need the other "C's": courts, corrections, and community support. If the community doesn't care, the jails are rolling them out, and the courts not meting out stiff fines and jail, then it's all for naught - and it probably is. In some communities lawlessness persists, and in others it does not. This foolishness would not happen in Gretna, Westwego, Harahan, or Mandeville. In Gretna, the cops would bust them, tap dance on their heads, the JP DA would gladly prosecute, the juries gleefully would convict, and most of the judges would give tough sentences. Like I said, if a cop doesn't want to be a cop, or isn't allowed to be a cop, then quit, I would.

Shame on the idiots that are in the middle of the road, who happen to get their arse run over.....

Where’s a triple line of 18 wheelers when you need them.

These type of incidents pop up quickly and disperse even quicker.
Patrol Officers assigned to shifts are often overstretched and understaffed in most mid size cities on Saturday nights during peak hours, 10pm-3am, when this occurred. They often don’t have the time or additional resources to effect arrest and seizures of crowds in excess of 20-40 vehicles and spectators.
Stopping these incidents requires intelligence gathering, infiltration of the networks that organize and promote the events, and covert resources to conduct physical surveillance, prior to the execution of a take down. Those assets often come from investigators that are already tasked with other responsibilities during the week, homicide, narcotics, armed robbery investigations.
Be reasonable. The over time or grant pay isn’t always worth the hassle.

There are no majority black cities or black- governed cities that are thriving. Please someone name one to prove me wrong. Not political- cultural.

Street racers have gone unchecked for some time now on the streets of BR. It’s only luck that more people haven’t been killed

Why can’t law enforcement throw about 5 stingers in the group. Watch them scatter and see the damage done to auto body.

Or you know, actually pursuing people who race up and down major roads. It doesn’t take Columbo to know that the majority of the racing takes place on Friday and Saturday nights generally either on or near the interstate.

quote: Siegen and I-10? It wouldn't occur to M. Paul to deploy a street racer task force to the Siegen area? Siegen abd I-10 where McDonald’s, Taco Bell, Twin Peaks, Target, Chuck Fi La is all out of BR. That’s for our Sheriff to patrol. Thanks. Then take everything I said about BRPD and LSP and add EBRSO. Clearly, plenty of this bullshyt happening both in and out of city limits.
It’s a total breakdown of law enforcement.

Community support would be hard for Siegen. Plenty of the businesses on there are corporate monsters and not mom and pop stores. The workers leave, the store closes, and what happens at night doesnt matter because its gone in the morning.

Dark colored/tinted Mustangs, chargers, and challengers make up 90% of the street racing in BR. And they generally stay close to I-10. Friday and Saturday nights.
Seems like shooting fish in a barrel, or at worst, a deterrent.

quote:I guess so. A lot of stores aren’t prosecuting thieves and BRPD response time is almost as slow as NOPD - you could go loot a store and have it sold on Facebook marketplace before a police officer responds (if they even do)
So if I am hearing this correctly, I am free to pretty much just go steal whatever I want in the city and my only opposition would be a citizen?
