The biggest reason is that it’s a very complex case with conflicting claims of jurisdiction. It will take time.

It's not the same as Madoff. Madoff turned himself in and gave the Feds the road map to what he did. Plus he was in NYC when he did it. SBF is saying that all this was a mistake, an innocent error, etc and hides out in Nassau where the Feds currently cannot get to him....and he is attempting a PR campaign.

a. He's in the Bahamas (and let them steal a bunch of money)
b. The scheme is very large and complex, without real accounting. It's going to take a long time to investigate. The feds aren't going to just arrest him on a hunch and then do the investigation.
