I remember when aids was not a gay disease. If so, why are the only people in the current commercials obviously LGBT+++++?
Heteros with aids are drug abusers and an extremely small percentage contracted it via an accidental needle stick or porn stars.

If you’re really a friend, tell them to stop having gratuitous casual sex.

I don't know a single person with the Aids or monkey pox.

The subtext I didn't originally consider about these advertisements is actually fascinating. They show not just guys who are couples (possible committed and monogamous) but also men in the process of apparently starting a sexual encounter with a stranger.
Set aside whatever you think about homosexuality and gay sex in particular. Consider the subtext of advertising - this is a drug to treat HIV for men who are courting the riskiest behavioral risks?
This is miles from the C. Everett Koop style of compassionate care (paired with minimizing the actual risk of disease and death with at least condom use). Under the guise of being pro gay the advertising is endorsing the behaviors that cause increased morbidity and mortality in gay people.

I have a gay coworker who I do genuinely like. He’s a bit of a simpleton but a nice guy.
We were on a zoom a while back and talking about COVID and then he said “wasn’t there something else they were worried about? Pox of some sort?”
I asked if he meant monkeypox. He replied “yeah whatever happened with that. I heard about it but never heard how it was spread.”
Well friend, it’s spread among gay men mostly.
He took it well, but was pissed the government and his curated social media didn’t make that known as well.
The same people that refused to tell you the best defense against covid was being healthy, vitamin D, and exercise is the same government and media that is scared of offending gay people that their behavior might lead to their sickness and death.
Fortunately we were friendly enough that it went well but we’re a small company. I imagine if I said that in a company with HR my arse would have been grass

Those commercials seem to be aimed at Brothas on the down low.

The reason for these commercials is because HIV infection rates have been dropping but there is still a big market for drugs for long-term HIV care and the market is getting more competitive as more drugs get approved...so drug companies have to step up their advertising to compete.
I follow this stuff because I've done well investing in companies with HIV drugs.

I hate it also. I guess I’m homophonic I can’t be around gay guys ,I start to feel sick when I see two men kiss. It’s just so nasty. I never say anything to them and I’d never be ugly towards anyone unless they fricking with me or my family but I’ve left get togethers before early when there is gay guys just holding each other

Ads targeted at maybe 2% of the population, aired so many, many more times that 2% views it.
I think there’s a point other than selling the drugs.

To be fair, that is every commercial.
In my house, we handle it one of 2 ways:
1. Only watch recorded shows when possible.
2. If we have to watch commercials, we laugh and point at the regarded phagets.

No, it's simply to make money and it's targeting the 0.3% of the population that's HIV positive plus their doctors.
It's a great market because patients will have to take the expensive drug regimens for the rest of their lives but as more drugs get approved the competition among companies gets more cutthroat, so we see the ads.

How come not once on these commercials do they say avoid having gay sex with strangers. Is that too offensive this day and age? Seems like that would cut down the spread of HIV by like 99% or so.
