Since we started screening blood, about the only non-gays that get HIV in the West are women who were infected by gay men. Africa is a different story, with its own box of horrors. But that's the way it is in the US, Europe, and Canada.

That's just sad.
I am an adventurous, open-minded person. But I also know the difference between virtue and self-indulgence, and I have strong feelings about which one belongs on television, particularly on Thanksgiving day.
Worse than what the people in those ads do is how they expect us to think about it. Homosexuality is not worthy of a Norman Rockwell painting.

They make me gag but the alternative approach used in 1980’s-1990’s PSA’s wasn’t any better.
Basically they sat on a bunch of stats showing which communities were more prone to getting HIV (and by a country mile), then spent their whole ad budget trying to scare white dudes afrom having one night stands.
A few things:
Female to male transmission of HIV is really rare base case, and practically nil in a vaginal 1-night stand (absent a cut on your or her private parts, or an absurd amount of backflow up the pee pipe that doesn’t get immediately flushed out). If you’re a straight dude looking for a 1 night stand, HIV just isn’t a statistically significant concern. Risk numbero uno will always be pregnancy followed by risks of sticking it into crazy, and then finally the other STDs.
There is also a percentage of European and Asian descendants legit immune to AIDS.
