What’s an acceptable amount of time to visit friends or family.

I’d say two nights max, and the last day should be getting up, dressed, then hitting the road and out of their space before 10.

What do you say to friends or family when they sort of let their plans linger and carry out past what is commonly understood?

Seems there is no common understanding.

After 3-day's, fish and good friends start to stink.

Departure time should be determined prior to them arriving

You seem like someone that no one would want to spend more than 2 nights with….

My friends and family are welcome much longer than that. And overstaying the welcome would be if I invited to come for 3-4 days and they stay 5 or 6

I've had friends stay in one of the suites for months and barely noticed.

This is why I avoid having friends. Only leads to awkwardness.

Can stay as long as we're having fun, it's not costing me a lot of money or getting in the way of productive.

I've had friends stay for weeks after hurricanes. Family a month or more.

Seldom-seen friends and family have stayed a week or so for holidays or vacation.

Or until my liver hurts.

Arrive Friday around 5 or 6. Leave Monday by 9.

That has gone smoothly for me (both as a host and as a guest).

It depends on what kind of guests they are. Some are very agreeable and not much trouble at all. Others are demanding and high maintenance.

Important to communicate expectations before arrival. That said, 3 nights max, preferably over the weekend.
