Blackstone is buying up every piece or real estate that’s out there but no…let’s investigate Ticketmaster.

Some senator couldn't get tickets for their granddaughter so now they're gonna get the feds involved.

I’m not sure how to feel about the feds doing something I actually endorse. I don’t know what to do with my hands.

I lean more laissez faire than most with regards to regulation, but the feds absolutely have a role to play in antitrust enforcement and should be a lot more muscular than they are. They've really let off the pedal in the last 30 - 40 years, and I would argue it's a significant contributor to quite a few of our current economic problems (e.g., inequality, obscene inflation in non-tradeable goods, etc.).

Most markets aren't very good at solving for monopolistic and oligopolistic behavior.

Let’s get the 27% both sides StubHub monopoly canceled while we are at it.

Damn 40%+ processing fee.

How has somebody not undercut them??

Because they control such a big chunk of the market that they can effectively blackball artists that don’t comply. Hence, antitrust investigation.

Didn't Pearl Jam cancel a tour or something if Ticketmaster was involved.

Yeah, 26 years ago.

The jam band scene is good about not doing business with them, too.

I always swore that if I won the lottery, I would set up a business to compete with Ticketmaster. My goal would be to put them out of business. With enough money, I don’t think it would be that hard. Their fees are absolutely f*cking insane. Someone could set up a business to do it for 10 to 20% of what they charge. I can’t understand why no one ever has. There has to be some shady, back door dealings going on.

Somewhere Garth Brooks is popping some champagne. He just jumped through hoops I've never seen before with his newest ticket sale fight with ticketmaster.

If I remember correctly, they tried to sell tickets themselves, and it wound up being only a few dollars cheaper than going through Ticketmaster.

With any luck, this will result in another $1.50 off shite-tier concerts consumers can never seem to redeem like the last Ticketmaster class-action lawsuit.
