Finally knocking this off the old bucket list this year. As a Christmas decorating nut, this is pretty much Mecca for me. My first time to the city altogether. Just sticking to Christmas related stuff on this trip.
Here's our plans..(4 days)
Rockettes(already bought tickets)
Rockefeller Center
Top of the Rock
Times Square
Dyker Heights Tour
Bryant Park Market
Central Park carriage ride(maybe, gotta watch out for those central park rangers!)

Am I missing any must sees right in this area?

It is pricey but the One Vanderbilt observation area is pretty awesome! We did it around sunset.

Bryant Park is a must.
Loved the rockettes
If you do top of rock splurge on the vip sunset tickets. Skip the line and it saves you so much time for a short trip
Worth every penny

I’d at least walk through the big department stores. They do it big.

If you’re going for all the Christmas touristy musts, ice skating in Central Park should be on there.

Go into the Park Plaza to see the decorations.

As noted previously, have just returned from NYC. I won’t hold it against anyone for doing midtown and seeing all the Christmas/tourist stuff, but whenever I go back I would be completely content with just kicking it in the villages or Brooklyn. Every time we got off the subway returning from midtown to Greenwich Village was like a breath of fresh air.

I’ve done Top of the Rock and Summit One Vandy. Summit is much better IMO.

The Xmas windows at Bergdorf Goodman are quite artistic, ornate, and worth a look. 5th Avenue not far from Central Park.

The Plaza Hotel lobby near Central Park

Boat House Restaurant in Central Park (not really Xmas inspired but a cool place)

Rockefeller Plaza is a must see with the tree and the light display on the nearby buildings (you’ll see that at Top of the Rock/Rockefeller Center).

Can ice skate at Bryant Park. While at BP, try the Arepas they sell at one of the kiosks. Good stuff.

That is a pretty good list. I would skip the carriage ride. Too expensive for the quick round the block trip. I would also suggest making a little time for the HighLine. Not sure what they do for Christmas but it is a unique way to see New York.

We might head into the city for Christmas stuff this weekend. Need to go get some hot cocoa at Cartier.

If near any of them, I'd try to hit up a bar that really decorates for the holidays, like Paddy McGuires or Pete's Tavern. Those are both near Union Square. Oscar Wilde looks pretty cool, too. I know some folks who went at Halloween and loved it.

We just got back, the light show on Saks store front was pretty impressive. Also, really enjoyed the Chelsea Market Food tour but even if you didn't do the tour, I would spend time in the Market. It's all indoor so if you have any rainy days it would be a good way to spend time. If you do the tour, it also takes you on the High Line.

Assume you are taking kids, so I would recommend Serendipity 3 for lunch one day.

Carriage rides are a huge scam. Usually run about $200 for 30 minute ride.
