Mike Jones, Jr. holding penalty on the fake punt...

possibly saved us from disaster. If he doesn't grab that guy by his hand muffler, we're giving up the ball inside of our own 20. I know it brought the play back, but helluva a heady play in knowing the circumstance and desperation there.

It was a great block too, the play just required him to hold the block for what felt like an eternity.

bingo...no way Bramblett beats that guy one on one and its turn over on downs. Got the first because of the penalty and of course it came back and we punted, disaster averted.

I said the same thing right after the play happened. Some head scratching decisions by both coaches in this game. This was one by Kelly.

He had the first down. If he hadn't have gotten the first ,the penalty would have been declined right?

It was a great block and a bad call. We had the first. Arky fans need to STFU about the favorable Jenkins spot because this was a phantom hold.

correct. If Jones doesn't commit the holding penalty then we don't get the 1st down and the Hogs would have the ball inside the 20. The penalty saved us. We wouldnt have gotten the first down with out it and would have never had to option to replay and punt.

Looks to me like he held his block and the guy dove, ref just saw him going down and made an assumption.

His hips were in a good place, and he was running his feet. He just needed to maintain contact. He didn't impede the Arky player from making the tackle. Should have been a no call.

No he didn’t
He engaged and when it couldn’t block without holding he disengaged. At no point was that a hold. It was a clean play that resulted in a first down and then an absolutely horrendous call.

OP claiming that if Penn didn’t illegally hold the defender, said defender would have tackled the ball carrier before he made the first down.
