Tucker needs a long term deal. Obtaining anyone through trade or FA should be secondary to locking him down.

I 100% expect Tucker to leave. I will be completely shocked if he doesn't go for the money he expects to await him.

Are you talking about Yainer Diaz? I feel like you're talking about Yainer Diaz.

What’s the forecast on Hunter Brown’s role going forward?

Sunny Skies with lots of shoving. Dude will start out as the #5 guy in the rotation and end up #2 by season's end.

LMJ will finally move to the pen.

Playoff pen rotation (in no particular order): LMJ, Abreu, Stanek (if he's not traded), Pressley -- man, that just absolutely shortens games. Will put all the pressure on opposing hitters to be aggressive early in the games.

In the rotation next season with probably getting skipped a few times to minimize innings.

The Astros are sitting on 6 (7 if JV returns) MLB capable starting pitchers. Someone named Garcia or Urquidy is going to end up traded in the off-season, and then you can still roll out a 6-man rotation to help with the veteran and rookie workloads.

Or you roll with a 7-man starting rotation because why the frick not?

Haven’t read the whole thread yet but first 2 pages mentioned wanting to resign Montero….no thanks for me

Someone is gonna offer him relatively big money for a reliever over ~3 years. I don’t think it’s worth using our limited funds on that

I'd love to bring him back, but if the money doesn't work then it's Seth Martinez time.

My recommendations/predictions (probably not worth a dam)

Free Agents:
Yuli-will be offered 1 year deal, same $$. Will turn down if anyone else out there offers a 2 year deal
Brantley-gone
Montero-gone
Diaz-gone
Castro-retires
Vazquez-Astros will make an offer but someone else will get by overpaying

Pending Options (likely all free agents):
Verlander-offer 2 year deal for similiar money now ($20-$25 mil per year) but don't seriously pursue
Will Smith-gone...we hardly knew you
Mancini-gone, especially if Click is gone

Astros need to save their $$$ to sign Yordan & Tucker to long term deals. I would not be surprised nor sad if Tucker ultimately walks

They locked up Yordan during the season

OF is a lot harder on the knees than 1B. I don't know why Yordan at 1B never took off, other than (i) maybe me moves like a dump truck in the infield or (ii) his arm made him too valuable in the OF

I wouldn't mind locking him up longer, but I know that's not the usual strategy.

Bregman too.

I like LMJ and used to think him as closer would be cool but the problem is he's a slow starter. Philly aside he always seems to give up a run or 2 early in his outings. In the pen he doesn't have that luxury. I love JV but I'm a realist, I also know he's tight with Crane. I'd rather go into next year with the 6 man rotation again.

1. Valdez
2. Javier
3. LMJ
4. Garcia
5. Urquidy
6. Brown

What if Whitley gets things together? That would be amazing.

Maybe I'm a cockeyed optimist but if done right this team just reloads at a few positions and is a force the next several seasons.

Maybe he sees the show someday but it will be shocking if it's an Astro. Should have traded him when he was worth something.

I think we start with

JV
Valdez
Javier
LMJ
Garcia/Urquidy - one gets traded
Brown

I think we end up with LMJ in the pen.

As he should be.

GOATlander (assuming we sign him and hopefully we do IMO)
Frambaw
Javibaw
LMJ
Brown

Urquidy and Garcia still in there Idk if you trade one and keep one as a 6th or trade both. I'd be fine trading one for a good 1B like Walker or something.

The parade was dope. Just seeing a whole city juiced on the Astros for a second time makes all the logistical headaches worth it.

Already counting the days till we get to see the boys back out on the field.

Keep one, trade one.

I think the 6-man rotation worked well and it will help keep innings down for veterans as well as young guys Javier and Brown who don't have 200 inning seasons under their belt.
