Good morning Champs. I have a bit of news to share. Late last night I was pleased to receive a phone call from Mrs Greely, the operations and events manager at the Jasper Lyons Club. After careful consideration they have agreed to allow us to hang some orange and blue bunting outside the club for a period of 2 days and also display the Astros flag in the main hall during our community leaders mid summer board meetings.

This is a great step forward for our partnership.

This is all great news. But did you ask them about revising the dress code? It really cut me deep that I missed last meeting because they refused to let me enter wearing my special orange and blue romper jack.

I’m more interested to see if Click takes it. I would imagine so but who knows. I am fine with this outcome. I don’t think opposing voices are a bad thing necessarily as long as it’s healthy but the Contreras thing was kind of concerning.

I’m also still laughing at the twice a week Rosenthal/Heyman story about Click not getting extended. It never made a ton of sense.

The wording of the tweet seems to suggest a 1 year contract. That may work for Dusty at 73 years old but after winning a World Series, I'd assume Click wants more security.

Yeah I’m not sure if it was just misworded or what. Most contracts for those guys are usually 3 years I think, which I am fine giving Click at this point. 3 years from now we will have a pretty clear view on his drafting/development impact. It’s pretty hard to see any of that now

If it's going to happen, Crane needs to get this done ASAP. Hurry up and do it before my WS euphoria wears off. It will make my melt less melty.

Side story: I was cooking gumbo the other night before game 6. Sliced my finger really good while cutting my trinity. Blood going everywhere. Grabbed a pair of surgical gloves to keep from getting blood in my food. Brand new box of gloves my wife ordered on Amazon.

They are Dusty Baker specials. My wife (no pics) quickly quipped: "huh. you look like Dusty. Does this mean you're finally going to frick off?"

This is my life.

I'll be glad Dusty is back. We proved we can win in spite of him and, honestly, I don't know what I would talk about with friends and family if not constantly bitching about how big of a moron he is.

Between Dusty coming back and Dubon under team control for 4 more seasons, I think we'll find plenty to bitch about.

But winning a World Series ain't one!

Dusty did some infuriating stuff in the regular season, but he was damn near perfect in the playoffs. Possible questionable decisions are

1. Leaving JV in too long in DS game 1
2. Leaving JV in too long in WS game 1
3. Leaving lance in too long in WS game 3
4. Leaving montero in too long in WS game 5
5. Not giving Vasquez a few more games
6. DH spot…but he tried everyone and they all sucked. Only the yuli injury allowed him to DH Vazquez with Korey Lee called up.

Seriously..aside from that the lineups were as good as you could hope for and bullpen was lights out. We won 11 of 13 games and both due to starting pitching.

In the other dugout…I was surprised with some of the decisions. I thought they pulled wheeler too fast and went lefty on lefty instead of putting in a guy who can spin it. I think some of their other relievers with less velo and more spin were more effective against us.

Number 4 was egregious. Everything else, meh.....So, he actually was a pretty good manager in the postseason. (Gosh, can't believe I said that.)

ETA- Can anyone shed light on why Stanek was used so little in the postseason? I'm not complaining- we won the WS! Just curious.

I guess Yordan and Pena already need a day of rest on opening day.

Does Dusty make the pitching choices or does he rubber stamp the pitching coaches decisions? Those pitching coaches and the overall pitching instruction are the Astros greatest strength imo.
