Is the St. Francisville area really as nice as it seems?

The wife (no pics) and I made a quick one-day trip up there yesterday. Lunch at the Francis, some sightseeing downtown and a quick tour of the Myrtles.
The entire area seemed to be really well organized and maintained. Roadsides and medians were mowed and neat. Everything seemed organized, clean and peaceful.
So, my question for those of you in the know is: Is this area really as nice as it seems? Or is just on the surface?
(On another note - On the way back, I could have told you when we crossed back into East Baton Rouge Parish without a sign).

It probably helps that they just wrapped up their annual fall arts fest, but overall, yes, the area is nice.

They have the best pizza joint in the state east of the Miss River.

Yes. It’s like another state demographically.

It's a nice area. I've had family up around there for the past 20 years or so. Not much to do so you'll be driving to BR for some things but that wouldn't bother much these days.

And their highschool football team is going into playoffs undefeated

It’s very nice relatively. Property values going up rapidly though

I enjoy the area. The city definitely has a country vibe to it. Secluded, away from the feel of city life.

They fight development really hard. That’s why it still feels like a small town. False River area is nice too and is pretty close.
Jackson (La) maybe isn’t as nice but it has a really nice little Main Street.

It’s a great area but there are plenty of trashy people as well.

An old LSU teammate is from there and has been the high school cross country and track coach forever. He loves it there.

It's a great place if you love the quiet isolation. I know several people who grew up there, and they said it's unbelievably boring for kids. All four of them moved away as soon as they could and currently live in Baton Rouge and Prairieville.

Looks like you've done everything there is to do, give or take a plantation home.

It’s terrible. I hope everyone stays away.

Yea. And property taxes are high as the frick to keep undesirables out.

Pop over the bridge for shopping and fast food often. St Francisville is a great little day trip.
