Chinese Restaurants in Baton Rouge

With the passing of Mr. Jeffrey, Hunan’s on Sherwood has diminished considerably in MHO and that of my wife.
Can you all recommend good straight ahead, regular Chinese restaurants in Baton Rouge (or even Denham) - Restaurants that serve up tasty food? Thanks.

Cheng’s (off Essen where Omi used to be) is the best Chinese in Baton Rouge currently. Just had lunch there today.

Went to Hunan’s last week and it was terrible.

Mr. Jeffrey's family sold Hunan's shortly after his death.
It now seems there is no better Chinese food in BR than a good strip center place.

Cheng’s
I got take out for the office from there last week.
We ordered General Tso's chicken and sesame chicken. It was the same badly fried chicken with the same mediocre sauce except one had those skinny red peppers sprinkled on it and the other had sesame seeds.
It was terrible. The chicken fried rice had uncooked chicken.
I had heard it was quite good from some on this board, but it was worse than Panda Express and Mark Pi's.
I really do miss Omi.

Eat at Cheng’s. Been good every time. Obviously word of mouth is spreading. Has been a lot more people lately. Great Mongolian beef.

So they make the take out sesame chicken, fried rice and general tso's chicken differently than what they serve at the restaurant?
Hard to believe!

I'm with you. The food has been excellent every time we have dined.

There sesame chicken is nothing special. I get to go from there often and a couple of time it was not up to par but over all I still thinks its one of the best Chinese in BR along with Asian Seafood House.
As far as strip mall places China Bear by Rouses on Bluebonnet is my favorite. They have a good lunch line special.

I like them, good people. I used to eat there when I worked nearby at least once a week. It was $6 after tax. Good times. Lol. Granted, it was 20 years ago.
I also like China Star in the lot with Albertsons on the corner of Burbank and Bluebonnet. The Singapore noodles are great.

I miss Great Wall on College.
It was a shithole, but it was OUR shithole.

Shings on government and bamboo house off Sherwood were the buffets I grew up with.

The decline of Hunan has been very sad. It was my go-to for decades.
Lee's Asian Fusion is the best I have had in the area since Hunan went south. I have never been disappointed, and will try most anything on the menu.
For typical strip-mall-picture-menu takeout, I like Crouching Dragon in Denham.
Been meaning to try Asian Seafood.

Oriental Pearl is across the street and is always solid.

I've been driving out past Denham High to Watson for Lee's Fusion a good bit this last year, and hitting up Asian Seafood House for lunch and dim sum. I found Cheng's to be decent but underwhelming.
Still mix in PF Chang's takeout, and some Oriental Pearl buffets. And went to Cafe Dang for some Pho last week.
Bummed out that Thai Pepper has abandoned buffet to only ala carte.
