Where to stay in London…?

3 days in London mid-March. Will be first timers and doing the usual touristy stuff with the wife and kids.
Looking for a good area to stay. Preferably with some attractions and good eateries within walking distance.
Hotels, neighborhoods all welcome!
Thanks!

I was going to say this. Look for hotels in Covent Garden and/or the West End. it's centrally located, so you can walk to most attractions. There are a ton of restaurants and pubs lining each street. And it's a fun area

We always stay in the Mayfair area. Close to Piccadilly, Buckingham Palace, easy tube access to a couple of stations.

We stayed in Notting Hill and liked staying there. Can use the Tube to get around easily.

I'm staying at the Club Quarters Hotel in Trafalgar Square in December.

I’m goin for first time this upcoming New Years. We booked The Resident Victoria right by Buckingham palace. Reasonable w/ a 4.6 rating on google. Looks to be in a great location based on feedback I received from several threads on here.

There are many good areas to stay. And you may want to look at flats for short term rental as opposed to a hotel. Proximity to a tube stop is a plus.
I always liked the Belgravia and Knightsbridge areas.

I always stay at the The Royal Horseguards Hotel in Whitehall.
It’s on the Thames just downstream from Big Ben, across from the Eye.
Embankment Station is a short block away.
Was there earlier this month, good people.
You can stash your luggage there before checking in or after you check out, if your travel times don’t line up with 3:00 pm or 11:00 am.

The Bloomsbury Hotel is near the Tottenham Court tube station, which is the center of the tube universe and convenient to get you anywhere. The rooms have UK and US style electrical outlets, and the rooms are modern and decent size for London.
Get on one of those hop on/off tour buses and stay on it. Make the whole loop and see all the major sights (at least from outside). If you try to do it on your own, you'll run yourself ragged and won't come close to covering as much ground. It's great for a first-time visitor with limited time.
Pick a couple things that you see along the way (Tower of London, Westminster Abbey, etc.) and go back to them for inside tours.

Location wise just get in Zone 1 of the Tube and be near a station

To pay for subway/trains/bus travel in London-
Get an Oyster Card mailed to you from TFL*
TFL Oyster Card Link here
Credits on Oyster Cards never expire (mine card is around ten years old and worked fine earlier this month).
Each person in your party has to have an individual card.
You can top the card off for additional journeys at kiosks located at every TFL station.
*TFL = Transport for London (they run the Tube, Buses, and London area metro surface trains)
The also gave the world the following wonderful euphemism

You can just set up a wallet om your phone and tap your way through London. The oyster card is a good option of you don't care to do that

You don't even need to do the phone part (although you can if you prefer), just use the tap to pay on credit card. Don't need to stop for tickets in tube, it'll just track your in/out swipes and charge appropriately. Trafalgar/Covent is probably best for first time tourists, but anywhere in Zone 1 will be a 10 min cheap tube ride to anywhere you want to be.

How much do you want to spend? You can get a clean room for $60 if you know where to look, much nicer than a $60 room in the USA. You can get a fancy room for $400+ too.

Stayed here also. Love the location. I would stay there again or Covent Garden. Enjoyed that area too.
