We impeach Trump for asking about illegal activities, yet a sitting President can release strategic oil reserves purely to attempt to help his own party stay in power.

He threatened the Saudis in an effort to strong arm them into increasing production before the election.

That's impeachable by Trump standards.

That’s what this is doing. Eventually there will be nothing left in the SPR

It’s amazing how these clowns are all about preventing climate change until it becomes politically uncomfortable. If they really believed in their righteous cause, they wouldn’t add more fossil fuels. They’d use this as a catalyst to ween us away from fossil fuels. FTR, I’m not a climate change denier, I just think Dems are full of it and don’t really care about the environment, they just want to suck up to those that do.

10,000 percent agree.

The Dems WANT high gas prices because that's the only way a move to renewables makes any sense. Because clearly, they can't lower the prices on renewables in any meaningful fashion.

Most Americans are perfectly willing to use more renewable energy... until it impacts their pocketbook. Especially in a time of high inflation otherwise.

If someone really is a greenie and is willing to pay higher prices to be a greenie... that's one thing. I might not agree witn you but I will always respect one paying the price for their convictions. But for these idiots to attempt to play games with setting prices by selling SPR oil to FIX A PROBLEM THEY CREATED... absolutely disgusting.

Also... Biden's going to buy it back to refill the SPR? What's that going to do to prices?

Only if the GOP wins the house and they take a simultaneous shot at Harris.

When oil prices dropped dramatically during COVID, did the trump admin suggest maxing out the strategic reserves? Would have probs been a good idea

This is the poli board as long as a political war thread is allowed to be sheltered here.

So in an attempt to decrease domestic WTI prices, he plans on reducing domestic WTI supply?

Global market.

So yes, it could decrease crude oil prices (Is WTI the only oil type that’s in the SPR?). Short term. But the Administration doesn’t care. A decease over a two week period to bring national gasoline prices down 10 cents or so is worth it to them to “save” midterm elections.

Fixed it.

This is all about the election. They will sacrifice the reserves for votes.

I don't think this is the purpose of the strategic oil reserve...

Yes huh.

He's doing this to try and STRATEGICALLY lower gas prices before midterms.

I know quite a few Biden voters that are screaming from the GOP mountaintop right now.

To me, it's odd that there are people that flip flop their party allegiance from election to election. It isn't like either party changes from their fundamental beliefs. You see what each side stands for, what they support, and how that aligns with your beliefs.
