Think of all the midnight basketball that could be played for 40 million dollars! The mayor could even afford to appoint a 7 figure poet laureate to raise awareness of flood issues.

What progress.

Please do me this favor. Someone show up and request to comment on this agenda item and request that Mayor Broome resign and Parish Attorney Andy Dotson resign. This was a straight up bold face lie to the public to pass a “fee” on all property owners.

The mayor is literally asking to wait until she gets answers from her own office and her own attorneys and to remove this item from the agenda. She wants the item removed so she doesn’t have to face the wrath of the public finding out that both her and her personally recommended parish attorney blatantly lied to their constituents in order to extort the citizens of money.

I’d say also to submit a complaint to the BAR Association on Mr. Dotson but I’m not sure if he violated any specific rules.

This is a $40 million extortion scheme on the citizens on the Baton Rouge and the citizens outside of any city limits within the parish. This was all done in a manner to intentionally hide facts from the public by virtue of a NDA that the city/parish created in order to avoid any meaningful discussion and attention the the mayor’s complete neglect of the underlying issue.

The mayor needs to resign. The parish attorney needs to resign. Anybody that took part in this scheme needs to resign.

They were so bold to do this. It makes me wonder what other stuff is going on in both the mayors office and parish attorneys office. Public trust is gone. Any member of the council that votes for this fee is complicit in the scheme to extort money from the people.

They stretched, "We cannot discuss settlement negotiations" into not giving the public information about the fee proposal.

Rowdy just agreed to an ethics violation within the last two months. Someone needs to call him out too and say they wouldn’t be surprised if he votes for the extortion fee considering we already know he has violated ethics laws in the state. Link to article on the ethics violation below.

Just another female African American politician that’s not from here, yet is trying her best to destroy SE Louisiana. It wouldn’t be that bad if NO and BR didn’t effect the rest of Louisiana but they do.

She could follow Teedy's lead, and fly First Class to Venice, Italy, to learn more about flooding.

Tell the Mayor she could have used that $2.5 million that they didn’t have to pay to Alton Sterling’s family for the stormwater issue.

I am more and more curious where HNTB lies in terms of NDA involvement. Program management can be a cash for for consultants (see CH2MHill’s program management of the SSO consent decree program)

Who stands the most to gain? Find the engineering firm behind this, and that's your answer. Ding ding ding. Give this man a prize.

Remember the MoveBR road tax a few years back? That was designed and put forth by the engineering and road contractor community and was advertised, vetted, publically voted on, and no matter where you stand on the tax, it was properly handled as far as transparency and good govt blah blah blah.

This wasn't that. This one is a stinker for sure.

I don't know what's worse. If they are all corrupt or just plain incompetent. We'd prolly be better off with a competent crook vs what we got now.

Is that even legal, and why would a government attorney advising city leaders on a variety of matters suddenly require a NDA on this issue?

This.

Why would Andy Dotson need an NDA? He's the PARISH ATTORNEY. He's professionally bound as a lawyer to already do that. He could be fired and disbarred for breaking client attorney privilege without signing an NDA. Seems redundant.

And the council has a professional responsibility as well to handle city parish affairs with a level of discretion. They often go into executive session on matters such as settlement discussions on pending litigation.

To the best of my knowledge several councilmembers asked for an executive session type of conversation and those requests were refused or unanswered.

Decided to look up the rules for attorneys. Rule 4.1 might be an issue.

LINK

Looks like the Fed's gave EBR a ton of cash to hire HNTB to tell the City Parish to spend more money on cool things that feed engineering firms like HNTB.

I don't beleive the management piece was ever settled. I'll bet you a dollar it never does either! Those fellas are all running for cover.

You won't find an engineer in the Great State of Louisiana that anything to do with it, I promise you that.

Fee is off the docket and SWB has thrown the parish attorney under the bus for the situation.
