Would you support a $2000 tax credit per person for being "physically fit"?

Fat has become a national security issue. It is making us weak. The objective is to promote a more physically fit nation. I would argue that a more physically fit nation is a stronger nation and you get the added benefit of potentially reducing medical costs. I'll leave it up to a DC think tank to provide the data. Let's just assume my assertions are correct simply based on common sense.

They way the program would be run would be simple and based on age and body fat content. Here are the criteria to receive the $2000 tax credit:

18 to 39, women, 21% to 32% body fat.
18 to 39, men, 8% to 19% body fat.
40 to 59, women, 23% to 33% body fat.
40 to 59, men, 11% to 21% body fat.
60 and above, women, 24% to 35% body fat.
60 and above, men, 13% to 24% body fat.

They way the program should be implemented is you go to your local designated healthcare provider and get your body fat content measured and they issue and IRS body fat content certificate. Then you simply file that certificated with your federal taxes to receive the $2000 credit if you meet the criteria. The healthcare providers gets reimbursed from the federal government for time and administration of measuring and issuing body fat IRS certificates.

No, I like survival of the fittest...

Of course if we cut off some of the government programs, I wonder how obesity would drop...

Our gov't gives tax credits for MUCH dumber reasons. I could back this one.

Doubt it would change anything as a majority of obese people don't pay a lot of taxes anyway.

absolutely....but I'd add some type of bloodwork also.

A lot of crackheads would get the tax credit based on your criteria.

It's amazing how "conservatives" preach small government yet still want government in their personal life

Okay, I just realized I had a huge flaw in my OP.

I assumed gender.

Our government is more likely to do that in reverse. Those poor obese need the most help so they get $2000 and the better shape you're in the less you get.

They would be more likely to incentive people to be fat

Another round to incentivize corruption? No thanks.

Too many obese people will still end up with certificates. And our government will not prosecute this form of tax fraud.

A guy at my office keeps telling us the average American female is 5'4" and 160! I mean, that is fricking obese.

IDK. I remember when Arnold was the physical fitness ambassador for George Bush 1.

Fewer carrots and fewer sticks from government sounds good to me.
