They way the program would be run would be simple and based on age and body fat content. Here are the criteria to receive the $2000 tax credit:

I'm ok with that but I think it should include additional criteria

Plenty of druggies and alcoholics would qualify under your criteria and they aren't healthy by any stretch of the imagination

I'd add some sort of drug testing requirement or bloodwork in addition to the body fat % requirement

Pass all of that and I'm good with upping the amount well above 2000. Healthcare is a huge budget item

No. Somehow it would morph into something else. It always does.

Our government is more likely to do that in reverse. Those poor obese need the most help so they get $2000 and the better shape you're in the less you get.

They would be more likely to incentive people to be fat

Where have you been? They have been incentivizing poor decisions and behavior for over a half a century now.

I would MUCH rather the government stop using the tax code to push whatever the frick it feels like pushing that day. Get rid of all of the incentives and loopholes.

Simplify, don't complicate.

The government needs to stop using our tax system to experiment in social engineering, period.

Judging by the physical and mental condition of our health czars, it would be turned into a tax penalty in a few election cycles. So... No

POC and other disadvantaged communities would get the credit for simply not being morbidly obese

It has been floated for years, but I have never seen it get any traction.

Sell health insurance like car insurance to incentivize healthy lifestyles.

You fat, sedentary, smoke, and engage in other unhealthy behaviors, it costs you more.

Exempt the things people cannot control: age, genetics, biological sex.

I remember the culture shock that I went through the day I got my first "real" job out of college. For 5 years on campus I was surrounded by OT 7s on an average then I had to go work in the real world

One engineering group I worked for went through a phase where the different groups would hire a new executive assistant...each one successively hotter. One day the president's wife and her "assistant" walked through the building and by the afternoon there was a memo issued (yes, predates emails) saying all future admin hires had to be approved. A week later, there were "layoffs". We then saw the effects on new hires being above 160 and min age was 50.

NO!

I'd no more trust the government's assessment of "physically fit" than I would the claim Trump paid women to pee on Obama's bed in Moscow.

E.g., You'd have to know "physically fit" according to this administration would include vaccination.

I've got a much easier idea. The govt should stop paying fat people for being disabled. No testing required. Just eliminate it from the list of conditions that qualify as a disability.

I’d rather eliminate the IRS and income tax, and let fitness be an individual’s choice.

How about making health and fitness products and services tax deductible? Naw, frick that. Just lower my taxes and I'll decide what to do with my life.

I support any lowering of taxes but is 33% bf for a 40 yo man really “fit”?

'Fairness' would definitely come into play at some point...

It's hard to lose weight because:

Genetics

Medical condition

Not enough community parks and sidewalks

Can only afford to high-cal foods

Guns
