My gf(no pics) and her two younger kids went. I got two texts messages at 7:53pm saying there’s an active shooter and people were running and didn’t hear nothing else for an hour. It was the roughest hour of my life.

you repeating this does not make it true. slidell has more crime than covington and absolutely none of the charm

I said violent crime.

Slidell is larger than Mandeville and Covington combined and has less violent crime than Covington.

Slidell is the Kenner of the Northshore and Covington is kinda New Orleans East.

Covington

Covington is more violent than Slidell and Slidell is almost 3 times the size.

You stand a greater chance of being a victim of a violent crime in Covington than you do in Slidell. In fact, it's significant.

Covington's sorta trashy.

I assume this was at the 1 Stop or Mike’s Stop?

I have passed by those places on the way to work every morning for 15 years and there are always 10-15 people hanging around both morning and afternoon. I’ve noticed for the last month or two, on most mornings, Covington PD has parked a car across the street, and no one has been hanging around outside as long as the po-po was there. As far as hoods go, it’s kind of tame. Usually don’t hear about too many shootings.

Just a little further down the road, the infamous “y’all, he needs some milk!” video was filmed. The place burned down later on and is just an empty lot now.

Slidell has very little violent crime in areas that aren’t economically challenged. If you avoid these areas, statistically, you are almost certain to not be a victim of violent crime. Slidell is large enough to avoid these areas. You stand better chance of being struck by lightning while riding a donkey than your would being murdered in Slidell if you avoid these areas.
Heck, even if you went into these areas, you’re much safer than if you drove down state street in uptown New Orleans after 8pm.

Slidell police force does not mess around either. It’s a fairly large town and they know how to handle business.

Covington is a nice town but they’ve got an area that has had some drug and gang issues. Being so small It’s not far from areas of relative peace.

Once you hit 27th or 28th Avenue, it’s a whole different story. Mele Printing/Atkins Park seems to be the thin border between the bad and better areas.

They used to have those really seedy side shows and freaks shows. I remember one where a woman changed into a gorilla and busted out of its cage as the host screamed at everyone to get out while he fired a gun with blanks at the gorilla.

Haha. I remember that...and it legit scared me.
