Do the two people he murdered get their freedom back after 31 years?

No? That’s right they don’t get their freedom back. They don’t get anything back because he took literally everything they ever had or would potentially have away when he decided to murder them.

frick him. Let his arse rot. If he wants out of prison, let him petition the court to change his sentence to death by hanging to be carried out immediately. He’s a murder and deserves a murderer’s justice.

Wouldn’t this news story satisfy the requirements of that law?

But thanks to an obscure law requiring notice of his release to be published in the local newspaper, his release was delayed indefinitely at the last possible moment.

What could go wrong?

Rule 2.2: Eligibility for Parole

Offenders sentenced to death or mandatory sentences are not eligible for parole. Offenders who
are eligible for parole are advised in writing by the Records Division of the Mississippi
Department of Corrections as to when they will be eligible to be considered for parole.

Any inmate convicted of a capital offense shall not be (initially) considered for parole until
notice concerning his/her possible parole is published at least once a week for two (2) weeks in a
newspaper published and having general circulation in the county where the crime was
committed as required by the Mississippi Code of 1972 Annotated (47-7-17)

Why is someone who murdered people (plural, not singular) as an adult getting paroled in the first place?

He killed two hard working Americans. He doesn’t deserve to live, much less be paroled.

Then that’s up to the folks of Mississippi to vote in legislators that can change the law when it comes to sentencing.

Again, not a fan of putting that in the hands of folks who are utilizing an antiquated loophole.

And it’s even more odd that the parole board ruled to release him but hadn’t sent the notice.

He hasn't served his time. There is no scenario where a person who murdered two people should ever be free. Period.

This law might be dumb but this guy should have been executed 30 years ago. That's the bigger takeaway.

Yeah I don't sympathize with him. Prison is right where he should be.

If it was my family I’d keep paying the newspaper to not run the notice

I’d pay to run the notice personally, just to get the piece of shite out so he could finally pay for his actions. 31 years would be a long time to think about how to inflict the most pain and suffering on this animal. It would be biblical.

What would the recourse be if the newspaper refuses to run the ad?

If you murder two people, you should never be released from prison.

Literally murdered 2 gas station employees minding their own business.

Even now hes got a smug lil look on his face.

Set him free. Sure. But chop his fricking hands off so he can't pull a trigger again.

Let him live as a warning to the rest.

Don't kill people and abide by the law and you don't end up in prison

More dads need to stick around to teach their kids the basics.

Jumper cables. Change a tire. Be a gentleman to women. Don't commit felonies.

NINE times and then goes and kills someone else

Man this guy should’ve been killed long ago or physically worked to death at Parchman in the fields

So let me get this straight

A guy named Bell shot another guy named Bell and they were not related?

I am guessing that is Lotto type odds there.
