I guess what we were really trying to figure out is if we could go after the hotel/valet. The attorneys that we've spoke with aren't very confident on recovering anything other than insurance monies for the cost of the vehicle.

The entire situation is ridiculous. Did a little research and apparently over 50 vehicles get stole in Houston daily. That is insane.

Ford may help but without Ford pass they may not. Call customer service and see if you can add Pass without the truck, don’t tell them it was stolen. If you can go ahead and get it, you should be able to view its location if it hasn’t been disabled.

Go after them for what? If you file a claim with your insurance then it’s the insurance company’s job to go after a 3rd party if they feel the 3rd party is liable. YOU cannot go after them and be paid again…. That’s insurance fraud.

If you are talking about criminally, that’s LEO’s job, not the victim’s.

The law of bailment.

In addition you’ll also find innkeepers have some additional duties and responsibilities under the law.

That won't work. You have to be in truck to see the activation PIN on SYNC to initiate app on your phone.

Any updates OP?

I live in Houston and hid an Apple AirTag in my F-150 for this exact reason

I have air tags hidden on every moveable asset that I own. It works great. So many Apple products to ping off of, you can see your stuff moving down the road really well.

Want do you mean “go after”?

You have insurance correct?

That’s what you pay your insurance company for.

Lol @ “Go after”. What are you going to, “Sue them”?

It’s a private parking lot. Cops don’t care. Let your insurance company fight it out

Just deal through your insurance they will lawyer up and go after the hotel. The hotel won't deal with you directly.

Cliffs: hotel said "we aren't responsible, we contract the valet services out to a different company"

Well the hotel is wrong as THEY pay the contract to the subcontractor to operate the lot but THEY own the lot

In the court of law they would likely split the liability

You are for having an F 250 and taking it to a parking garage.

Who do you think is responsible?????
If it's valet there is an expectation of security. Do you still have the keys did the valet run off with your truck?

Did you owe money on the truck and you are 60 days behind on your 800/mo payment and the repo man tracked you down?

Not necessarily. In New Orleans parking lots and parking garages are owned by private companies. The restaurants, Condos and hotels lease parking spots from these shady frickers
