Was discussing this with a buddy would love to know what tRant thinks.

Jamarcus gets all the bust “hype” and is more recognizable bc he was the #1 pick but strictly based on talent one could certainly make the argument the Ryan Perrilloux under-achieved (relative to his potential) way more than Jamarcus. Guy was an absolute stud in HS and set all kinds of records but could never stay out of trouble. Wish him well wherever he is but man…what a shame. Tons of god-given talent and did nothing with it.

JR was a bad mother in college

RP never was.

RP had the chance to sniff greatness but ultimately couldn’t get in line. Had a chance to bump his stock but ultimately blew it

It’s Russell. We were able to see a larger sample size and it was a complete waste of god given talent. RP seemed to have all the ability, but there are still too many unknowns in a Les Miles/Gary Crowton offense.

Crossed paths with RP about two years ago and he still tries to live off his LSU time.

Jamarcus is a top 5 QB ever to suit for LSU, He lived up to the hype in college. Perrilloux will always be one of the biggest what if’s ever because I fully believe that 2009 team is a championship contender with him at QB.

RP was a college bust and JR was a pro bust. Depends how you're defining bust.

Perrilloux. Jamarcus got paid even though he blew it.

Jamarcus was night and day more talented than Perrilloux.

Well considering Jamarcus played his way into being the #1 overall pick and Perriloux got kicked off of the team and went undrafted after being the #1 ranked dual threat QB in high school, I’d have to go with Perriloux being the bigger waste of potential.

Yup. That trumps all.

RP won a BCS NC and a SB ring. Rarified air. Jamarcus won neither.

Russell. He and Ryan Leaf will go down as the biggest 1st round QB busts in history. At least Perriloux has a super bowl ring. The expectations for his pro career were not as high as Russell’s Russell completely squandered his opportunity. The only bigger waste of talent was Cecil Collins.

EDIT - If you are talking about college busts, there is no question it was Perriloux. Russell was anything but a college bust. I consider him the third best QB ever to play for LSU behind Burrow and Bert Jones.
