We have once-in-a-generation opportunities within our reach to create the future that so many of us have envisioned for Baton Rouge: a city that is resilient, safe, inclusive, and economically thriving; with walkable, bikeable neighborhoods characterized by a special sense of place and a wide variety of opportunities that brings in (and retains) top talent. Achieving this vision will also require doing something difficult, courageous and necessary: addressing the risks we face as a city on the front lines of climate change.

I wish I got paid to drone on and on about a bunch idealistic horseshite that has no chance of being implemented

even without crime who wants to do this in 95 degree weather with 90% humidity?

Climate and statues. Winning combination.

I know for a fact that Southdowns and Bocage are the cause of all the climate change and litter in this city, not Scotlandville and the Plank Rd corridor

what? with a simple investment from the Federal government, this utopian future BR is well within reach.

As long as we bury our heads in the sand and talk about climate change and trannies, we won't have to address the real problems in the city like broken homes, ghetto culture, and no interest in education from the school system or the students.

All this time I've been thinking most our problems are due to thugs and it turns out it's my F150.

Over the past 40 years Baton Rouge’s population has grown by 200%,

Say what???

According to Wikipedia, population in 1980 220,394 and population in 2020 227,470. Almost 4% growth lol what a dumbass to say that number and not research it.

I think the population is decreasing. ANY increases and it is Baton Rouge Metro which includes any area that has good schools nearby.

What was the BR metro (multiple parishes) population then vs now?

I bet outlying EBR plus West Feliciana, Livingston, and Ascension have had massive growth.

I'm sure Camille will tell those young men to stop driving their dirt bikes and 4 wheelers on the interstate when they're going to their night classes

It gets worse….read the PM Newsletter to see how Broome and the BR Chamber plan to steal, eh, use $1.8 million:
quote:

1.Re/Connect to Jobs: This initiative would help job seekers find available positions by hosting job fairs with additional services to help people with barriers to employment. The initiative would also include marketing to potential job seekers and reaching out to unemployed or underemployed individuals to help them through the job search process.
2. Youth Workforce Initiative: This initiative will prepare and better retain talent through real-work experiences while students are in high school, community college, or at a university, by connecting them with paid internship opportunities. The program will target industry sectors that were disproportionately impacted by the pandemic, such as construction, manufacturing, hospitality, health care and small business.
3. National recruitment of tourists and talent: This initiative is a comprehensive effort to get people to come to Baton Rouge for work or to visit. The program would involve coordinated marketing campaigns, resources for learning about Baton Rouge and integration with the online job portal to drive people toward available jobs. According to Broome’s announcement, Visit Baton Rouge and BRAC are collaborating on an integrated external marketing strategy to promote quality of life and job opportunities in Baton Rouge for prospective talent, drive greater visitation to the market, and highlight career opportunities in the region through the BR Works regional jobs portal.

“Job fairs” like the ones the school board just sponsored which were Urban League voter registration activities?

How does that publication even exist? I just went to their Twitter account. There is no engagement.

Article after article, with no retweets, zero or one like, etc.

Of course Twitter isn't everything, but it's certainly a snapshot of public engagement with your product.

SERIOUSLY!
You guys actually printed this drivel?  Are you high on Broome's cash, or Murhpys' farts?
How about following constituent votes?  As, in , St. George?
How about changing the infrastructure that's so outdated its a joke?
How about addressing crime that is the real issue?  Lemme guess, the LSU coed was shot because they perps were angry about the railroad and the use of coal?
How about we build a wall around St. George?  Oh, wait, that's racist.   But Lipsey can build one around his place. Let me tell you how many Baton Rouge natives I've seen working on that wall.   LOL.
Yeah, climate change will stop us from being hunted at stop lights.  Climate change will fix the traffic and infrastructure problem that is Baton Rouge.  You guys had comments turned off for this topic.
What in the drug-addled brain editor let this through?
My dad was a journalist.  Glad he's not here to see this regurgitation you guys are passing along as reporting.  Go apply for the police department if you want to change BR.  This crap reporting ain't gonna do it.
Oh, wait, I wouldn't want to work for that derelict organization either.  Not much to differentiate between the information you idiots pass along these days.  Both lying through your jackolaternen looking teeth.
