You ARE NOT. I repeat ARE NOT going to have Semis electric.

1st. There is no infrastructure for it. None actually being majority implemented from the looks of it.

2nd. If you have ever seen a truck stop at night it’s no fricking way to charge these trucks.

3rd. I’m not giving up my diesel truck.

Batteries don’t fricking work to be productive!

No we starve,,,,,,biggest ports in the country are in LA and Oakland....A large percentage of our agriculture is grown there

And it should be noted that's 3 ports

Port of Los Angeles
Port of Long Beach
Port of Oakland

They rank as the 1, 2, and 10th largest ports respectively

I think that's ranked by tonnage. There are multiple different ways to curate the list. Point is these are very important ports to the country at large

At what point can the commerce clause be used to shut down these ridiculous laws?.

Why? Why not just tell CA to fare thee well and quit subsidizing their ports with Federal dollars....

It’s time to change that. The south needs to get to building ports that can handle large amounts of commerce. Line em up through the canal and let us offload em down here.

In 1900 Arthur Stilwell built the Kansas City, Mexico and Orient Railway. It was to travel from Kansas City to Topolobampo Mexico. Stilwell envisioned that Topolobampo would be a major port city and was a shorter route to Kansas City than Los Angeles was. He ran out off money and the banks would not give him any financial support and his railroad stopped at the Mexican border in Texas. The railroad was later bought by the Santa Fe. Stilwell also had started the Kansas City Southern Railroad.

Perhaps it is time to re visit Stilwell's plan ?

So California can hold the rest of us hostage with this insanity? Sounds like we need to start cutting deals for our ports to receive more and cut them assholes off.

The south has ports that handle large amounts of tonnage, but they are built to handle different modes of transport. Mostly oil/gas, rice, etc. West coast handles cargo containers more from what I've seen. The Panama canal is a bottleneck also for some of those ships.

The portion of the line from the Mexican border at Presidio to NE of San Angelo is currently owned by the State of Texas, and once CBP completes an inspection facility at Presidio, the line can fully reopen for business.

No. Let them scavenge for food. They did it to themselves.

Depends on what I decide I want to eat. If you are talking about a delicacy I do not need it. I can get by.

The proposal would require medium and heavy-duty trucks entering ports and railyards to be fully electric by 2035
So truckers delivering cross country loads will now have hours upon hours of down time on a daily basis because they have to stop and recharge their electric batteries.

It takes 30-60 minutes on those fast chargers to recharge a regular electric sedan's battery. How long do you think it'll take to recharge a battery big enough to move a big rig's weight? And how short of a range is it going to have when towing a trailer that has 15 tons of weight in it?

I'm curious- is Kenworth more racist than Peterbuilt or is it the other way around? I'm not asking about White-Freightliner because, well, you know....

Democrats don’t plan ahead like this. It’s only the “now” presence. It’s all a knee jerk reaction on their part. This electric deal will cause chaos and shut the country down.

Define delicacy. Because the 100 mile radius around me produces more milk than all of Wisconsin. If I get into Ag stats you’ll understand just how vital we are to the country.

Remember when Biden’s handlers were talking about mobilizing the national guard due to the trucker shortage and comments they made about how unfortunate it is the supply chain is controlled by the private sector?

These Poliboard baws all hunt game and grow their produce on the back acreage and can it up for the winter. Who cares if we can't get goods out of the #1 and #2 ports or any produce from the biggest agricultural region in America.

People are pretty fricking stupid with how they perceive California.

And I mean that people both inside and outside of California.

Overview of Cali Ports

quote:

California has a total of 12 ports. Eleven of these are publicly owned, and one—the Port of Benicia—is privately owned. These ports process about 40 percent of all containerized imports and 30 percent of all exports in the United States.

If you think this is funny, it's not.
