I'm 30 minutes east of Tampa. Don't wish harm on anyone else, but keep shifting west, Ian.

Translation = I don’t want it to be my problem. Others can deal with it but I will hope the best for them even though me hoping will not change anything.

I'm 30 minutes north of Tampa. The population density of Tampa Bay is much higher than any other potential landfall. Everyone thinking logically should hope for a westward shift.

Is anyone hoping the hurricane comes their direction?

The longer it stays disorganized the more westerly the track becomes or what?

Euro shows a weaker system crossing over Cuba and the GFS has a stronger system farther west. However, over the last 3 runs the GFS has trended weaker, faster, and eastward.

If we look at an area avg sounding from the 06z GFS, we can see one reason that this might be happening. A deeper system will feel the steering in the red box more and a weaker system the green box. A deeper system will have more of a NW component to movement and a weaker more of a nothern one.

Then down the road a bit, the more eastward the system gets the more it will feel the influence of the trough, and the more likely it is to get picked up and pulled NE. However, the strength and timing of the trough also plays a role, so this is overly simplified but does give us a hint that a stronger system probably takes a more western track.

We’re on a message board where people tell each other to die in a fire, post WOWYHI threads, and where everyone is subject to being antagonized, demoralized, and if you’re female, objectified.

But wishing your house doesn’t get destroyed by a hurricane is a bridge too far apparently.
