The city as a whole. Quieter, cleaner. More clearly defined boundary between ghetto and normal.

This thread is depressing. When I entered LSU in 1998 I thought LSU was a magical place. and the city of BR seemed safe and quiet and downright pleasant compared to Nola
At that time the crime was mostly in NBR and a handful of SBR neighborhoods. It didn't spill over much into normal areas. It used to be a solid rule just to stay south of Florida Blvd. In the 80s you didn't even have to do that.

quote:really? So that means you’re from the suburbs in 1998 NOLA you knew where to go and not to go - from what I’ve heard, that’s how BR was too - but I always found BR creepy, especially around campus

What are you even rolling your eyes and arguing about? Yes, 1998 BR was quieter and cleaner than 1998 Nola. “Knowing where to go” in Nola doesn’t change that fact. Go be retarded somewhere else if you’re looking to argue over something so obviously true. Other than the state/president streets, there was absolutely nothing creepy about any area around LSU.

Exactly. This is not debatable to anyone but greenrocktiger. To a guy accustomed to Nola, where the ghetto was never that far away, it was refreshing. So to hear about how shitty BR is now is depressing.

Aster st was ghetto (and creepy) in 1998, that’s not too far from campus

Where in NOLA? I grew up in mid city, and I’m the same age as you. If you grew up in Gentilly or Bywater, I can understand.

Austin is becoming a shite hole for Austin
Doesn't Austin have one of the best police departments in the country? I think their police officers are one of the top paid police departments in the country (if you factor in cost of living. California has a lot of cities where officers are paid over $100k but of course the cost of living is much higher.
Austin does currently have a Serial Killer, I think what? Since February they found 4 men in a lake, all killed the same way and all last scene around the same area.
Either way, how many times has their been a story in which a parent says "we wanted our kid to go here or do that because we thought it was safer and this ends up happening?".
The reality is, there is no such thing as 100% safe. The best thing to do is tell them ways to stay safe and hope they listen. If its your daughter express to them that they should NEVER go out alone. Same thing for guys as well, but there are more men looking to take advantage of a girl than women looking to take advantage of a boy.
They need to know about the areas they go in before going. There are simple things that can be done to keep them out of harms way.

Your ability to say nothing coherent with five paragraphs is amazing.

I don’t understand this constant yat-litmus test some of you need. Like anyone who says anything negative about nola must post their naturally nawlins bona fides.
The topic was about how shitty BR has gotten. In 1998 I thought BR was clean and nice compared to Nola. This was how I felt, and so it sucks to hear the campus/city have gone downhill.
I mean, are you disagreeing with how I felt about BR 25 years ago? You want to analyze how I perceived something 25 years ago??

Not roundabouts 2001-2003. There was a dude that would always practice his samurai swordplay in that forest. He made everyone feel safe.

Need more gentrification

Seriously, what motivation would BRPD have solving this, other than the obvious "none".
The mayor and Chief are winning awards while the city is going to shite. Their voters are only making it worse. People like this girl are the ones the left want to leave behind and replace anyway.

LSU should have some motivation solving it. Reading the latest Maddie Brooks rape story on the front page of FoxNews.com with the term ‘LSU’ blazed across the headline is just another clear win for my university.
But meh. I’m sure people will forget. Right?

This doesn’t have anything to do with LSU though. It didn’t even happen close to campus.

Was she an LSU co-ed?
Posted on 5/10/23 at 5:19 pm to EZE Tiger Fan
I’m gonna say they don’t frickin care at all. Just another statistic.
The mayor has other things to worry about, like her MOVEBR program, and trying to get that storm water BS slipped through.
I wish Nakamoto would investigate how much tax money they collected to synchronize the traffic lights and build the sidewalks and fix the roads and where the money went and who got what.

Nakamoto can’t do shite otherwise he would be quickly unemployed. Ask Kiran.

Her going to LSU is of no consequence. She wasn’t involved in a school activity. It didn’t happen on campus. She didn’t live or work on campus. The LSU angle only matters to locals and the national media because it draws attention.
This is all BRPDs shitshow to own and LSU doesn’t need to be drug into it.

I heard he has an expose about to drop about a mailman in Pointe Coupee who dumped crawfish boil water near a storm drain.
