Austin is becoming a shite hole for Austin. If I had to pick between Austin and Baton Rouge it’s not even a real choice due to how much better Austin’s shithole is than BR’s shithole.

When you factor in how liberal Austin is that's a hard pass.

Nowhere. Alabama is woke as any and has one of the largest out of state enrollment of any school. Where are these fantasy land campuses?

Have you seen the Baton Rouge government?

Although the woke politics are a problem, that isn't necessarily to blame for Baton Rouge being a cesspit. The university's identity is built around the football team. They will burn half their university down if it means keeping the football program afloat. Football is their golden cow. And since almost all of their Louisiana recruits are from run-down hoods with high crime rates, this just perpetuates the negative stereotypes.

If their application rate was that high, their acceptance rate would be much lower. Like someone on here said, it's the quality of the applicants that matters.

True, but academia is full blown woke at every level, everywhere. Small schools without football are still woke.

Yes but some have 100, and some have 100,000. Baton Rouge has closer to 100,000 criminals

Oxford, Auburn, College Station, Starkville, Lexington are all MUCH SAFER than BR. Violent crime rates way below BR. And still most of the SEC has violent crime rates almost half of BR’s rate

BR is easily the most dangerous SEC market. I'd guess Columbia, SC and Tuscaloosa to be 2 and 3.

LSU has little to do with BR’s politics. BR politics is run by North BR now

Nashville actually has a very high violent crime rate, but not quite as high as BR’s. Fayetteville and Columbia SC were also very high. Tuscaloosa is very high for the country, but it’s half of BR’s violent crime rate

So is Austin. The most homicides in Austin history occurred in 2021 with 88.

Keep in mind Austin metro is over 2 million people and the city proper population is 1,000,000. Nearly four times larger than Baton Rouge.

Yes I already mentioned Austin is far better than BR. Some dumbass said the rest of the SEC is as bad as BR and I had to put him in his place

BR has always been dangerous, at least in my lifetime. It's just that crime has spread into areas where it was historically pretty low. It's harder to avoid now.

The amount of pure evil that travels through Highland Rd, through the heart of campus from “The Bottom” on a daily basis is staggering. There’s an extremely high number of convicted felons in BR. The cesspool of NBR is a cancer that has metastasized all over BR. Those people are angry at the world, have nothing to live for, don’t fear the Police or going to prison, and are ticking time bombs. A minor traffic disagreement could lead to your untimely death by gunfire.

They live at home now, what’s the difference?

Let them rent an apartment by campus so they can get carjacked, mugged, or shot?

No thanks.

This thread is depressing. When I entered LSU in 1998 I thought LSU was a magical place. and the city of BR seemed safe and quiet and downright pleasant compared to Nola. The ghetto just never stops spreading. It has infinite reach.
