By the way, the Emmys were tonight and no one cares

fricking hilarious. I remember they used to go on for 30+ pages on this board. Television and film are dead and basically died with this jewel from Ricky Gervais in 2020: the last gasp of humor in our world

I don’t care about the Emmys but I saw Bob Odenkirk and Rhea Seehorn didn’t win anything for BCS.

Award shows did die by his roast that had that earnest seriousness.
He kept repeating, "nobody cares"...
The out of touch audience thought it was just jokes, instead of a funeral.
We will always want entertainment...But he killed celebrity that night.

It was a bizarre decision to have it on Monday Night opposite MNF on the opening weekend of the NFL season. Why they didn’t host the event last week or two weeks ago before the start of the NFL season is beyond me.

At this point, I think they genuinely don’t want people to watch it anymore.
They already know exactly how it’s going to go… rich, entitled, disconnected elites will stand up on a stage and lecture the rest of the world for not being as good as they are, it’ll piss people off, people will grow more disconnected from Hollywood, and the bottom line will suffer for it.
At the same time, they can’t cancel it all together because the hyper-narcissistic standard personality that overruns hollywood lives for the chance to go up on a stage in front of a room of their peers and say, “I’m better than you”. It’s likely even the very reason most of that room got into the industry in the first place. The award show circuit is thus a necessary evil to placate the children making the content, but something that actual executives no longer want the general public to have any awareness of.
That’s my cynical theory at least

I watched some. Utterly hilarious that the dude from Squid Games would win over Bob Odenkirk and Jeremy Strong (he's my favorite sad sack) for best dramatic actor in a series.
For best limited series, many awards went to The White Lotus. IMO, it was the weakest of the nominees (ok, Pam and Tommy was pretty crappy). Dopesick and The Dropout were much better, as were their performances. Hence, both Michael Keaton and Amanda Seyfried won their respective catagories.

I had it the other way, I was thinking Strong would win best actor and squid game would win for best drama .
Knew it would be diverse in some form or fashion

FWIW, Kenan Thompson is a perfect host for these times. No angry agenda, no over the top self aggrandising smirks. Plus we got a Good Burger reunion.
The audience showed their lack of age by who they applauded for during the In-Memoriam. It was obvious that they had no clue who the stars of early television were.
The best bits were the shots taken by everyone at Steve Martin and Martin Short's ages. Martin and Short delivered every time they were near a mic or on camera.

I didn’t know about it until maybe 30 minutes before I posted this thread. Was watching the Broncos game and saw the single most idiotic play call I have ever seen, and then went to Twitter and was informed it was on. Came over here to see that no one had posted about it and then laughed and made the thread once it was completely over.

Yeah, he’s the perfect host to make sure no one will watch. A company man through and through who has defended the likes of Dan Schneider for decades. What a host.

I watched and those points were all true.
The limited series category has really grown over the past few years. Those were some of the best shows nominated for anything.
Was really glad to see Michael Keaton win for Dopesick.
Jennifer Coolidge's winning speech was pretty funny as well.
