Not surprising.
That said, it also must be taken into account there were a lot of local visitors driving to campus who don't usually come for an LSU game. Visitors who are not particularly well known for following rules well. Case in point, I've talked to more than a few people who told me some of the parking pass lots were full...despite people with passes in said lots being stuck in traffic trying to get to the game. It was opined that people without passes were just jumping curbs or otherwise getting into the lots even though they did not have a pass. People who many not have even been going to the game given the stadium was pretty full at kickoff despite there being a ton of people stuck in traffic trying to get onto campus.
I'm not saying the city police should ever be held as some sort of gold standard for traffic control. But it could be the unique situation this particular game created, essentially an invitation for any and everyone in the city to converge on campus, may be the cause for such a mess. A cause that, presumably won't be there this week with an out of state opponent in town. If so, then we know there are BIG TIME problems with the city, LSU, BRPD, or all three.

I certainly hope not. I have reserved parking at the Wesley Foundation, and I could not get there. I left Metairie at 12:30 and got off on Louisa at about 1:25. I only moved about three blocks on Highland in an hour. There were no police to control traffic. People were making Highland two lanes headed towards campus; it was totally ridiculous. The end for me came when a local female who was nude from the waist down (she had on a long black t-shirt) crossed in front of my truck. I do not care about the "historic" nature of the game. The traffic situation was an embarrassment. I turned and went home. If this happens again, I will no longer be a season ticket holder.

Maybe someone needs to tell Tate that all those idling cars are contributing to climate change. That might get their attention.

Stanford was 100% open
On way to LSU, there was a cop at Stanford and W Lakeshore with a barracade not allowing anyone to turn right on w lakeshore without a parking pass. I have not seen that ever in 20 years of being a season ticket holder.
As a result, traffic was bumper to bumper standstill on Stanford from W.Lakeshore all the way to the interstate, including the side streets. It was ridiculous.

Sounds almost identical to our experience. As if the traffic trying to get to the game was not bad enough, after several times of my wife having to divert our grandson’s attention away from trashy, somewhat dressed, females she said let’s go home!! That was a wrap.

This reminds me of when Coach Belichick had the press conference and said:
"We investigated ourselves and we didn't do anything wrong"

They need to move that parking pass checkpoint back to Nicholson extension / highland. Not sure why they felt that needed to be done as it worked great. It allowed everyone in the paid lots to cut through
I’m hoping that was just a 1 time game thing that someone thought would help prevent traffic from people that don’t normally go to games aimlessly driving through campus

Always seemed like they could just leave everything alone. Let the traffic lights work.

Everyone knows why it happened, it’s just not a socially acceptable conversation.
The absolute total lack of BRPD presence was intentional.

There were plenty of BRPD out there. They were just implementing a stupid plan.

There were hundreds of cars that didn’t move within the South Levee Lot for 2 hours. That is the farthest parking lot away from Tiger Stadium with a direct route and controflow leaving campus.
That should not happen no matter what. I’m fine sitting in traffic on a roadway for an hour. There is no reason I should sit in a parking lot for 2 hours without moving
Sounds like you were in free parking. I'm with you on free parking but this is probably on purpose by LSU

This was my problem as well. There has NEVER been a cop there before.

We parked in lot 404 and there were 4 people tailgating close to where we parked and each of their tents were taking up 2-3 parking spaces. None of the vehicles around the tents had parking passes. This was around 2pm.

Move to a major city and experience “game day traffic” damn near on the daily. Yeah drive from West Los Angeles to Northeast Los Angeles daily. Travel the 405 with bumper to bumper not moving an inch “game day traffic”. You do this shite 7-8 times per year at most. This fan base is so pussified now.

Just camp out and have a few brews. Watch some games on the phone. Wait for it to all blow over. That’s what I do.

Yeah, but they don't let you go left off of Highland leaving via that route with contraflow. Since you have two lanes of contraflow on Highland, seems that (Highland to Stanford) would be a good route to take some of the pressure off of Lee/College.
LSU avenue (which is what you are referring to) has always been closed at highland. If you want to take Stanford take South Stadium off campus.
