No thanks. I will never pay a cable company for TV again. I am stuck with Cox internet while AT&T finishes running fiber. Once that’s done, Cox is dead to me.

We are fortunate to have ATT fiber in our neighborhood. Cutting the cord from our $275/month cable/internet bill was a no-brainer!
We chose DirectTv Stream because it carries Bally Sports and ASTRO games. Been pleased so far!

I was already paying for Cox internet, and adding cable to that was only $50 per month, so I was happy I did it. I was paying that for Youtube TV anyway. There's something to be said for convenience.

Am I missing something?

NBA League Pass + is $14.99/no. Just get that and a $10 VPN with US nodes.

Is the Bally Sports+ app going to be blacked out in Baton Rouge?

No, it should be available in BR. It's what I'm going to do.

I don't understand - so you are complaining about having to pay $1.25 a game?

That’s fine if you want to frame it that way, but, name another “single channel” streaming service more than $20.
That’s more than
Netflix
HBO Max
Disney+
Hulu

And for a frankly terrible product outside of the commentators themselves.

Hell no. Suddenlink was so overpriced and was crap. I switched to Hulu Live a few years ago and then switched to Direct TV stream last year to keep getting the Pels. Good service, decent price and... no cords.

Most entertainment has largely transitioned to streaming already and the new shows people are watching are coming out on streamers and not TV networks. We are still kind of at the beginning of the transition phase for sports which is why there aren't many good options yet.

At some point I think the NBA is going to take the TV rights back and instead of selling to a local broadcaster who is really just a middle man selling to cable companies, they will eliminate the middle man and go direct to consumer and direct to the cable/streamers.

If I wanted, I could get EVERYTHING free. I don't need to pay for cable. I don't need to pay for Netflix. I don't need to pay for sports.

As long as things are reasonable priced I'll pay what I think it's worth. Cable is not that.

At this point they are making a killing off of internet, and the cable thing is on its last legs. The television companies want to keep upping their price to cable companies to carry them, and they are going to make themselves extinct by doing this.

That is why you see them all rushing to try to get with the streaming because they know the cable bubble is about to burst.

Soon having the cord won't be an option at all.

What streaming services are you paying for?

Just like cable, there are some out there that just aren't worth the cost. The content can be had by other means. Or you can rotate what content you have access to each month.

If you are paying more for streaming than you did for cable, it sounds like you are paying for too many services at once, and the overpriced ones at that, like YouTube whatever it's called and Hulu Live or whatever.

Ballys is the worst thing that ever happened to this franchise, and that’s a high bar. Why dafuq did they re-sign???

If cable dies, you're just going to see streaming services merge into a la carte options with more ads... meaning it will basically be cable but with more on demand features, and it will basically cost the same.

Once one money well runs out (cable), they will just figure out how to get the money by other means.

This may not be what you want to hear, but AT&T sucks worse than Cox.

My dad "cut the cord" recently and I've been helping him decide which streaming service he would like to use. So I can confirm, in no world is cable still the way to go
