What's the homeless population like in some of the florida cities: Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville, Tallahassee?
Is it as bad as New Orleans? Or does having a very conservative governor make a difference.

There are more homeless people in Florida than Louisiana. But they have such a larger population.
And a quick google search shows the Tampa /st Pete area has the most homeless in Florida. Actually scratch that, they used to buy have taken steps to solve that.
Rt now it seems miami is the worst.

In 2012, CBS News reported that the Tampa-St. Petersburg area had the highest rate of homelessness in the country. But in 2019, Tampa is making serious efforts to make sure that doesn’t happen again.

Hell I’m in PCB and we have a huge homeless problem here. Mainly due to drugs

I live in the Orlando metro and it isn't very bad there are definitely homeless however the volumes seem low compared to the size of the city.

Ok, so it seems to be a problem everywhere and there's little that can be done about it.

It can't be as bad as Downtown Denver

It drives me nuts hearing people say “experiencing homelessness”.

We have more than our fair share of homelessness in Orlando. Rent is stupid high and salaries are still very low- we have a heavy service oriented job base, i.e. hotels, restaurants, entertainment jobs don’t pay well, but that doesn’t seem to keep housing down.

When I lived in Gainesville it seemed like there were a lot of homeless there for a town of its size

I saw that St Pete on its own was one of the worst in FL.
And I was recently in Orlando for those soccer games. Didn’t see much homeless. I’m sure they are around. Still didn’t see them.

I think St Pete is worse than Nola in terms of hobos. That area by the park downtown is loaded with them.

I see zero evidence of it in Destin.

If I were to go homeless for the rest of my life - a nice gulf coast city of FL is a decent way to go.
Realistically, it would be hard to remain homeless down there. Would be easy as heck to get a job at a marina or on a fishing boat or at any of the hotel/resort properties.

Does the city government keep them away? or just not quite enough urban area for them to settle in.

They had a huge fight years ago because some people wanted to go to a park where the homeless congregate and give them Checker burgers. There were aboot a dozen soup kitchens within a block of the park that did not want their gig stolen.
It went through court and the court said they could give the burgers to the soup kitchens to be given to the homeless, but not directly to the homeless.
