the Braves and Cardinals are both a TON of games behind the top handful of teams when it comes to record vs .500 teams.

The last 3 WS winners have had sub .500 records against above .500 teams.

Literally the only thing that tells you is that anyone in the playoffs CAN win it, which we all know anyway given the nature of baseball.

the more people who understand this the better. there is no logic to it. if there was, the dodgers would have won like 2 or 3 championships over the last 7 or so years and the braves would have won a good 3 or 4 in the 90s

baseball is a funky sport that needs very large sample sizes to normalize. you dont get that in a series that is a best of 7 or 5

It’s why winning a division is a party in baseball, an afterthought in football, and I’m not sure even some of the players could tell you the divisions in the NBA.

It’ll be interesting when MLB goes to a more NBA style setup after expansion though, with the leagues being the East and West (but likely still called American and national).

Yankees call up Florial and Cabrera then refuse to play Florial. Cabrera is getting starts all over 3B, SS, and RF so far and made a home run saving grab last night

Yeah the difference was MLB updates live and BR next day. So BR was before last night's games at 27-28.

Still doesn't explain how he saw it wrong though.

Yeah there is a reason that since the wildcard in 95 only 3 teams with best record have won the world series.

Also what makes baseball playoffs great.

Walker will be #1 going into next season, and Winn will be top15. All while not tanking or LOL, errrrrr rebuilding.

Weird, almost player trade, Cardinals called Texas, and wanted to make an evens up, Oscar Taveras for Jurrickson profar deal. Rangers scouted Oscar hard, and the scouts came back, that he was way too immature to make the deal.

curious how many times a top 5 prospect would of been dealt for another top 5 evens up. although, oscar and profar were unanimously top2 prospects in league.

Judge didn’t homer, but he showed why he’s the best player on the planet. 2-4, robbed a HR, and *another* base. What does he not do well? Boone and Cashman should get canned.

Reds v Bucs tonight....sweet geezus we are awful. Pirates walked us off last night at PNC and surely will beat us again tonight now that Votto isn't at least on the field for moral support.
