I'll be glad to have a discussion with you about our administration and their lack of support for UGA FB pre-Kirby but you're obviously not capable of having that discussion.

So you don't wanna discuss the reason you called me "dumb?"

You really think UGA FB had unlimited resources and every advantage before Kirby?

They weren’t taking in 2014. They were just a poorly constructed team. They were trying to win.

They had Upton, Heyward, Freeman, Simmons, Minor, Wood, Teheran, etc. and were coming off back to back playoff appearances.

2015 and 2016 were really the only years they were trying to lose and not making decisions to benefit their major league product.

2017 they signed/traded for tons of veterans in positions and had started calling up highly ranked prospects like Albies, Swanson, Newcomb, Wisler, Blair, etc. They were trying to make the WC game but weren’t good enough yet. Certainly weren’t trying to lose.

have you been a fan of the braves for longer than 5 years?

I shouldn't bite, but I will:

I became a Braves fan in 1991 at 10 years old. They were the team that made me a sports fan. So yeah, 31 years is a lot more than 5.

Now GFY.

So then you remember the point in time when they tanked right?

Tanking is losing for a long time, to acquire high draft picks. That doesn't work in baseball.

The difference between your opinion, and mine, all boils down to one simple thing: I think a player has to enter an organization with high expectations on him in order to make the argument you're trying to make, and you believe that if, at any point, a player becomes highly rated while still in the minors, his development is no longer a credit to the organization. I think that's absurd.

How dense do you have to be to read paragraphs of my argument and get this from it

An organization would get credit for the guy simply by drafting him in the first place in the example of your bullshite interpretation of my argument. But I don't think its that controversial to say someone like Vlad Jr was likely going to be Vlad Jr no matter what the Blue Jays did.

I'm talking about a very specific subset of players. Players not highly drafted, then not really recognized in the prospect rankings nationally. Its not the only measure of a good farm system, but like I said its a measure where we can isolate a few variables.

If you don't want to think that hard about it, just go off the prospect rankings and MLB production that comes out of each system and you're likely going to get a good gauge of who is good and who isn't that way. I like to think people are capable of thinking critically and not just reading the equivalent of a box score though.

The Astros winning around 55 games for 3 or 4 years then going on an incredible run a few years after was just a coincidence

Definitely wasn't tapped out, Langeliers and Pache were both top 100 guys at the time which is what we gave up in the Olson trade.

Harris was top 100 at the time as well.

Langeliers got called up today by the Athletics fwiw.

Easily capable of sweeping the 2019 Orioles

To be clear, if that series is played in Atlanta - Braves win 3/3. If that series is played at Camden Yards, Braves win 4/3.

To be fair, I think there’s some good points being made on both sides.

Braves lead MLB in hitting WAR from rookies and pitching WAR from rookies and they were the 29th ranked farm system by both ESPN and FanGraphs after the Olson trade.

Strider, Grissom and Harris alone have combined for more WAR than any other team’s entire rookie class and only Harris was even a top 100 prospect. Pretty impressive.

7.5 WAR in 115 games from the 29th ranked farm system is a pretty good case for being able to pluck guys/develop guys out of thin air.

That wasn’t the Braves though.
