A big art critic over 100 years ago wrote it was the greatest painting ever, and it stuck. Plus, what is causing that just-beginning smile?

To this day I regret wasting a day in Paris at the Lourve looking for that postage stamp of a painting.
Scott.... how long ago were you there? I was there back in 1960. We had been in a couple of rooms and had not seen the painting. We headed down another long hall that had few pictures hanging on the walls. When I got to the next room, my Mom called and said to come back down the hall. I had walked right past it. There was nothing special about where it was put on the wall. There was no protective cover around it. I think I could have reached up and taken it off the wall. And.... we were the only people anywhere in that hall.

If you want to see impressive painting, go to the Sistine Chapel at the Vatican.

Since you were at the wrong museum, maybe you saw a counterfeit.

Seriously, what makes the Mona Lisa such a big deal?
Agreed. Nothing about it screams amazing.
Aaron judge smoking 45 hr’s, that’s amazing in todays age.
Paint a picture of him. Or, trout.

Wish I could burn it in private

The painting was made famous by the 2003 American drama, Mona Lisa Smile, starring Julia Roberts, Kirsten Dunst, Julia Stiles, and Maggie Gyllenhaal.

Women of those days were not allowed to look men straight in the eye. Her portrait has her looking in everyone's eyes. that was a really big deal

Meh…it’s 21” x 30” - it’s not that small for a portrait.
