Can you answer the question?

I'd prefer almost anyone from my church to adopt my kids before a family member living in sin

We as a society like to pretend men and women are just alike and interchangeable. But they’re not. A child needs a mother and a father. Not a mother & no father, not a father and no mother. And for sure not two mothers or fathers. Virtually everything wrong in our society goes bs k to children being raised in homes without either a mother or more usually a father.
and if that mother and father both die? and the people that step up to take care of the child are 2 lesbians, is that still the destruction of society?
or is that family taking care of family during incredibly tragic circumstances?

I answered it on the previous page. Answer mine.

Well technically we all sin. I guess a better descriptor would be someone flaunting that they're living in sin.

I asked for clarification but never got it. I want to be clear on what you believe.

I see. No, refusing to share the Word of God with those who seek it is not on par with rejecting Jesus. Rejecting Jesus is the only sin that keeps you from Heaven.
But you asked which one Jesus would have a bigger problem with, which is different. The answer to that is both of them. Both situations require repentance.

Fair enough. Blood does not necessarily mean they would make good parents. Neither does belonging to a church. I'm just speaking for myself as my family are good people. No one in my family is homosexual but it would not be an issue for me.

Do you believe that the apostle's refusal is the same, better, or worse than the town's rejection?
I don't know. Keeping with Matthew 5 since I started there, a Christian leader who misleads followers about sin will "be called the least in the Kingdom of Heaven." I'm not sure if that's a decent comparison for your hypothetical rejection by the apostle, but I think the concept would be that it's a Christian failing in his/her Christian duty, and quite egregiously so. Yet, presumably, they are a Christian and will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven nonetheless.
Whereas those who reject the Gospel and the messengers will not be part of the Kingdom of Heaven at all.
Regardless, you don't have to convince me that the former is problematic, FWIW. I'm just not sure it's really applicable here.

Now then:

Who is it that you think is being refused the gospel in the scenario being discussed in this thread?

“Sinning in secret is better than sinning in public.”

The folks on this board will go to the grave defending the Catlick church. All that proves is that everybody is full of shite. Nobody is holier than thou.

Aren’t they kicking a child out of a religious school?

Wouldn't the same argument be applicable to a gay couple denied membership in church?
This really comes down to whether admission/membership is akin to your example of someone seeking to hear the Gospel and not receiving it.

I'm of the opinion that fallible men are not qualified and never will be qualified to determine who may hear the gospel should an individual seek it.

Is she? I don't see anywhere in the article where it stated they can't take the girl to church there.

No one is stopping them from hearing the gospel.

Well, I'm not sure that was the question posed (or my spin off).
If a gay person (or anyone) wants me to tell them about Christ, I certainly pray I'd never miss the opportunity regardless of how I felt about their lifestyle. But if they want membership in the church, that's not the same thing.

I'm sure the school received push back from parents about this situation. This is a fundamentalist Christian school in a small LA town, and lesbian parents probably don't make up a large number of the PTA.
It really is a blessing in disguise for this girl. She would likely not be received well by these families (birthday parties, sleepovers, etc.) and the adoptive moms surely wouldn't be. In addition, the school actively teaches the "truth of the Bible" (their words). This girl would feel awkward in that scenario.
I know it's hard to believe for some, but many people view homosexuality as an egregious sin against God. If people want to send their children to a private, fundamentalist Christian school, they are going to want those principles taught to their children.
